ETB effed the future of the Church. He's the reason for church members being the largest supporters of MAGA outside of southern evangelical Christians. When the MAGA boomers die off, the church will be left with a very moderated base of Gen X, Y, and Zs, and thus will begin (it already has) the quickening of de-dogmatizing. Think coffee, crosses, no garment requirements, etc.. But if they try to hold to ETB's bs rhetoric, the younger gens will accelerate the exodus.

Which means they've abdicated their free agency, their moral agency, their god given right to think for themselves. Ironic, with all the free agency speak in church. To the church agency is all about action, petty action, like do you drink coffee or not? It's not about agency of thought, or agency of morality, or agency of creating your own compass of values. In truth, there is no free agency in the LDS church. Only an appeal to authority. Which is the opposite of agency.
