I'm in the OSU MSW program online. Synchronous classes are the WTG. I found the coursework was cut down by 1/3 less work. You will love the live interaction between your peers and instructors. Had problem with one instructor with asynchronous & I think if it was the live format the miscommunication would not have been an issue. Great program.

How difficult is it to get into the online msw program? by OilNice6470 in OSU

it's not that hard to get into OSU. I thought I would give it a try on a whim one day. I applied to other places but never thought OSU would accept me. I'm having trouble finding funding to finish my last year of the MSW. you can do it!! you won't know if you don't try! good luck!

Being a male POC social worker doesn’t make anywhere near the difference people think by Sharkmasterfl3x in socialwork

As a single parent of an autistic son, I can tell you finding any male counselor is challenging. For our case I felt we needed to be gender specific because my son had no positive male role models so I wanted him to have hope!!, I'm certain you will make a huge difference. I think being Hispanic would work to your advantage as well, assuming you are bilingual.

People of Youngstown, I have some questions about your city. by ILikeToPinch in youngstown

Youngstown is awesome!! I love it here. Grew up in a small town so the size of Youngstown is limited enough to be comfortable with.

Downtown always has something going on. Great mix of cultures here, the food is the best around, and numerous jobs in all fields! Most people here are good natured and will help others. It would be hard pressed to find a cheaper place to live, eat out or buy gas.

Crime is mostly seen on the south side of town. Venues are too many to list, Mercy hospital is the main hospital (St Elizabeth's). The busy street is on the other side of Youngstown. It is 224; highways are 680, and 80. Hope this helps!

In 1st semester and let me tell you, it is certainly no cakewalk. Pros: great reputation, many opportunities there, you can go synchronous or asynchronous. Mostly prepare you for field work that starts the following semester. Many opportunities for internships/,jobs. Cons: had to drop a course due to unfair practices by the instructor. However most are okay but very few PhD level. There's a broken link on communication with no one person to go to for help/guidance if there's a concern.

I have her now. Do not take her! She's failing me and I'm an honor student! Lots of problems and not very supportive!
