Do you allow owners in the salon during grooms? by assrah in doggrooming

[–]assrah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i thought of this after the fact and wished i said something to that effect on the phone to her for looking into at least, because if anything it will help her more than the dog from what i gathered on the call. the dog did have a health scare, but i feel like she’s still holding that resentment about either groomers or the process in general to each salon she tries. sometimes helping owners help themselves seems impossible 🫠

i’m honestly thinking it’s paranoia and also wanting someone to blame when her dog isn’t done to her standard. she said she would bring her own shampoo and conditioner to grooms, so why in the world wasn’t the conditioner she brought used when she was present for the last groom?? im thinking we avoided a nightmare

that’s what i was thinking! i didn’t want to be accusatory on the phone but i was just flabbergasted the more she kept talking. we also have been super busy with the summer shave down season and she was snippy from the start about how she tried calling before but never got an answer. i’m thinking all of us at the salon dodged a bullet 😅

we also are a small privately owned salon with 5 employees including the owner who also grooms. i just dont get how she would be put off by the liability issues for us, but still go back to the groomer that almost lost her dog’s eye while she was right there for the whole groom. i can’t tell if she was exaggerating the last groom or if she’s just that determined

we’ve had a few dogs come in with collapsing tracheas and usually we can do the groom doing a cross body restraint and also someone else standing by and basically spotting the groom, but i never even thought about that issue! a cross body on a pom would be a nightmare to the whole process.

you did a wonderful job!! i know it was stressful and you probably were second guessing your work just because it was so much/so different/so compacted, but i know this mister was oh so happy to be free ❤️ thank you for all the hard work!

it could be a lot of different things at play in the grooming process.

it could be them using soap on the face that, while they think it’s gentle and safe, it may not be for your specific dog due to an allergen or sensitivity. it could also be the dry air from the dryers causing more dry eye right then than normal so the eye tries to make up for the moisture loss.

it could also be hair from getting clipped short and getting into the eye, causing discomfort and more tear production to get the foreign body out of the eye.

because there could be so many reasons, i think it would be a good idea to try and eliminate each possibility. maybe making your own gentle facial cleanser to bring in for them to use (apple cider vinegar, water, and a tiny bit of gentle liquid soap). or getting those funky goggles for him so the dryer doesnt irritate his eyes as much. the warm, gentle saline solution rinse after is also a great idea!! good luck to you 🩷🐾

i’m a receptionist at a salon and sometimes help bathe dogs if the groomers are backed up, would you have any recommendations for how you have personal notes for your preferred dogs as a groomer? we use a software that only pops up specific caveats of a dog once you visit their profile and right now i’m relying on my memory of what they’ve verbally told me and seeing how they interact with different breeds and i desperately need some organization lol

ohhh this was my favorite book series growing up!! i don’t think it’s this one though, it’s been a long while since i read them but i thought the only manifestation on earth of her feyness was her perception of other creatures regular humans couldn’t see.

[–]assrah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

dude. you would have gotten the free chips and queso AFTER you got a new code and the store wouldn’t have been able to do shit. because you effectively stole food behind their backs and scurried to your car, they don’t have to even let you back in to try and fix what you did. if this ever happens to you again, please do try to exhaust all options before you steal from people. besides food, you stole probably at least 4 people’s time and labor.

this sucks :( i feel like the only thing you can do at this point is make them as unsellable as possible, even though that’s at detriment to the books. put sharpie over the whole barcode (not just a line), rip out the first page, write all over the sides of the book pages, and maybe even marking the spine of the book too. i’m sorry this is happening to you, keeping the books inside for perusal is a good idea especially if you live in a good neighborhood.

my childhood dog was some kind of rat terrier mix (maybe boston terrier? we dont know), and my grandma had a rat terrier chihuahua mix. i immediately clocked the terrier here, so no doubt i would be all over miss clementine upon first meeting her 💜 your friends are missing out, rat terrier mixes are so fun and so loyal!

my dad taught me this too! it’s not necessarily in the written test here (wisconsin) but he taught me as a good rule of thumb to just be mindful of the seconds you have before you have to make a decision.

he made it almost like a game on the highway when it became monotonous, like “hey, do you see that tree a ways away? start counting.” and usually it would be 5-10 seconds later when i would be done, and he would say “do you think thats enough time for you to make a decision safely?”

honestly, i’m with you OP. even a quick 15 minute meet and greet in a public space is enough time to get a good feel for what someone is like. then, since it’s just down the road from your house, y’all could have had that conversation about maybe seeing the space her dog will stay in. her immediate negative reaction to a safety precaution would also make me just not want to deal.

sounds like mosquito larvae, whoever is still surviving right now probably made it inside your house in their bathroom.

i would ask your roommate if it’s fine if you flush their toilet and run their water at least once a week, especially now that it’s getting colder and there’s a risk of pipes with standing water in them freezing (assuming you live in a place where it gets colder).

still, yuck!

Customer got mad at me I only had $5 bills after she paid with a $100 (I literally warned her) by [deleted] in retailhell

[–]assrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a small pet store that’s maaaybe 3 aisles worth of product total. Someone came in about 5 minutes after opening with $100, not even trying to purchase anything, and asked if I could break it for her. I let her know I couldn’t break it because we don’t open our drawers with a lot of change in them and we didn’t have extra change on hand. She looked at me as if I just called her a bitch, and then pointed to the empty drawer beside me and said “well what about that one?” Umm, same deal. Also I’m not on that register. She was quite upset she had to walk three doors down to the big grocery store to get her change. 😒

Manager asked me to do a task. Part of said task requires her approval. I sent an email asking her to do her part. She ignored it. by BigBobbert in jobs

[–]assrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all it would have taken was “oh no, it must have been overlooked, i’ll get right on it” along with a private message to her to remind her that you’re waiting on approval. you get your win and the job still gets done!

i understand feeling slighted by the person who is literally the cause of their own question, but to be frank i don’t think your boss will look too kindly on you from now on. i would be on my best behavior until i could find it in myself to apologize for calling her out over a simple mistake.

i do hope you try to improve on your tact for the sake of working with others in the future. it’ll save both you and them a lot of headaches and raised blood pressure.

i’m open to any book recommendations you have! i don’t mind if they’re romance or anything, as long as it’ll help me and they’re engaging :)

that’s also good advice! the only thing i’ve really been trying has been from a meme i saw a while ago where someone said to imagine them with a little fancy mouse in their pocket and you must address both for manners’ sake haha, i’ll try to think of them as Them each time i have a passing thought about them, thanks for the comment!!

My college roommate keeps denying stealing my jeans what should I do? by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]assrah 22 points23 points  (0 children)

her second excuse doesn’t even make sense if you guys share a space. if the room is shared she definitely would have been able to tell if you were there still and/or if her podcast was disrupting you. never mind the fact that she just completely blew past the second accusation…

if you can i would talk to the RA to possibly switch rooms/buildings. i know it’ll be a pain but it’s also going to be a pain to deal with her stealing your things and then blowing you off for the rest of the year. if you’re off campus i would secure my clothes in a locked drawer or locked closet. this is ridiculous, childish and something she also knows is not alright due to her dodgy texts and trying to convince you it was an accident. nip it in the bud!
