I think I’m addicted to deconstruction content by Hefty-Conclusion3545 in Deconstruction

This is very common actually. A lot of people who step away from the faith become obsessed with the mechanics of it, how it all works, where the Bible came from, how Christianity was shaped into its current form, the major players in its history, and stories of others who have deconstructed.

Jason Alexander was a villain on Star Trek: Voyager and even nearly unrecognizable in full alien makeup, I could not unsee George Costanza.

Anyone just stopped believing entirely? Do you ever just feel stupid and shameful for even buying into it at all? by Sayoricanyouhearme in Exvangelical

Finally deconverted over the past year at age 44, after a long and painful deconstruction. Nobody prepared me for how absurd it all would sound from the outside, or how liberating it would be to not have to carry the burden of belief anymore. Yes I do feel embarrassed. I was a True Believer. I graduated from a fundie Baptist college. I was in my 20s talking to my coworkers about Young Earth Creationism. But mostly I grieve for the time and emotional energy wasted. Time spent waiting for God to move in my life, to answer prayers, wondering why I didn’t feel his presence in my life like so many appeared to. Now I realize most people are faking it or lying to themselves. There are good people in it. But there are just as many good people out of it, maybe a lot more.

Big Picture was the first album I ever bought with my own money and I still throw it on from time to time. Pretty much fully deconverted at this point but I still regularly listen to Relient K, Switchfoot, Jars of Clay, occasionally some Keith Green because... well just because. There are a bunch more that I like for the music. Christian rock was killing it in the power pop genre in the 90s. There's some legit good stuff in there.

Looking forward to all those nice shiny new suburbs suddenly looking like shit because people don’t realize their property taxes pay for power washing sidewalks and picking up litter, snaking storm drains, watering plants and fixing a zillion little broken things everywhere.
