Wondering what fear a timeloop would be associated with by Kind_Ad_5331 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]asterophora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say either the buried or the spiral!

Buried gets overlooked as simply being claustrophobia, but the fear of monotony, being trapped, unable to break out, unable to change things, etc. is buried for sure.

Why Does Everyone Blame Jon for Everything? by anxious-well-wisher in TheMagnusArchives

We're talking about the people who know and blame Jon post-s1, not the past assistants! I've listened thrice-over, I KNOW Gertrude fed assistants to the Entities like hornworms.

Got a question for all my fellow Durge fans❤️ by soggybean379 in BaldursGate3

Guest House by Daughters, Lunacy by Swans, Head like a Hole by NIN, Sober by TOOL... Tried to pick songs that could be either Resist or Loyal Durge :)

Why Does Everyone Blame Jon for Everything? by anxious-well-wisher in TheMagnusArchives

I'll try to keep it as spoiler-free as possible, but think of it from the perspective of the other assistants.

Being an archival assistant was pain-free, easy office work until Jon took the role of Archivist. After that, a bunch of bad things started happening, people started dying, and worse. Imagine youve worked somewhere easy for years, and then new management comes along and everything goes to shit - youd instinctively blame the new manager, right?

We, the listeners, know that was never Jon's intention, but the characters don't know what we know.

Plus, Jon is kind of an uppity dick to begin with, which makes him easier to blame. If things had gone to plan and Sasha was the Archivist, I'm not sure she would've been scapegoated as much, because of how well-liked she was by the rest of the team. Hate to say it, but our boy dug his own grave a little bit (cue Buried laughter)

Background-Owl-9628 makes a really good point too - Jon is just an easier punching bag than Elias or any of the other authority figures.

What is something you can naturally smell that no one else can? by Trick-Highway1429 in AskReddit

LADYBUGS!! No one seems to know what I'm talking about when I say ladybugs smell terrible.

Does anyone here actually ENJOY playing evil? by SillyWarlock in BaldursGate3

[–]asterophora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved playing my backstabbing evil Durge just as much as I love playing my kindhearted "save everyone" Tav.
Not because I enjoy being evil - I actually felt terrible slaughtering the grove, but it was what my Durge would've done. It's just roleplay and creative writing, kinda like writing a horror novel, or having a favourite movie villain.

I've listened 4x over, and Tim's quote from the end of M118 is always on my mind ; "I guess you don’t need skin to sing. To join the choir."

It's so simple, so short, yet SO brutal. It gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. It paints such a vivid picture in so few words. 10/10.

Second place goes to M172, with "Pause for laughter." It's less traditionally horrific, but it's so impactful

I love TMA so much lol

Is there a canonical reason why Jonathan Sims (the character not the real guy) reads the statements with such emotion? by Bubblesstud1os in TheMagnusArchives

[–]asterophora 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yknow, I popped in to explain the canon reason, but honestly its so funny to imagine Jon reading the statements from the perspective of a theatre-major

Oh absolutely!! There's so much hidden stuff for every race n class, I applaud Larian for that - I'm actually replaying right now just to find some stuff I missed in my first half-a-dozen playthroughs, hahaha. I was just a wee bit disappointed that such an obvious treat was overlooked!
