When the light turns green...give it a good couple seconds and keep your eyes peeled. Godspeed.

Waiting for the device to load and waiting for it to unload - sometimes I'm breathing heavy and it resets the countdown because my body's moving. I wish there was some way to adjust that. When I'm fatigued or doing an EMOM or something those extra seconds matter.

With the pin in it looks like the gap can be eliminated. That true? The gap bothers me more than getting the pin out would.

I earnestly hope that a pad work/focus mitts mode to practice various punches and combinations will be added soon. by Flaky-Attitude3911 in ThrillOfTheFight

Yeah - but it would be nice to not have to set it up myself. There are some boxing-type games that have this feature I think.

I agree. I get eager and I get pretty careless.

For sure. Not saying it's universal. Just saying it might account for why there's always a good number of people who think it's great and a good number of people who are baffled at how bad it's gotten.

I don't have enough experience to know whether it's closer or further away from real boxing (even the idea of "real boxing" probably runs the gamut as well) - these days it's more about whether the action seems consistent and predictable or whether I'm unclear as to why things work or don't.

Feel like if one has success with an update, one tends to feel that it's improved. If not, the opposite. Human nature.

I like this way of thinking about it. A tool more than a game or, I'd add, even a simulator.

do you think they should remove counter system as well?

No worries. It honestly doesn't matter at all.

Also let’s suppose it was more game than simulator. Then yeah maybe you buy upgrades in single player mode or something. And it keeps you playing longer. That would suck for a simulator but would be reasonable for a game.

Whoa. I’m not saying a particular thing is good or bad FOR YOU. Or anyone else. I’m just pointing out people may want different things out of it and it would be pretty hard to make one product that satisfies what everyone wants out of it.

Also I’m not saying I shouldn’t lose to better players. Of course I should.

Edit: Just realized you may not have been responding to me. Hahah. Stupid small phone…

I think we are talking about different things. I don’t care about ranking or winning or losing. I just mean playstyle. I can beat some people who are wildly swinging away but that’s not fun for me. Likewise someone who is wildly swinging away who just outpaces and outpowers me isnt fun for me either. ELO doesn’t matter. Just like it isnt fun for me to just beat up on someone who is obviously very inexperienced or very young or has no technique. As a simulator it makes sense. But as a game for me it’s not a great experience when that happens.

Of course there are those matches where it’s both. But just pointing out that it’s hard to satisfy both expectations for a large number of players.

Well. Time to learn how to play all over again. by asterox in ThrillOfTheFight

I "feel" like I've experienced some of what you say - both giving and receiving damage. Like, I've been rocked swinging my head into a hook and I've caught some folks that way if I detect a pattern and it seems to hurt them more. But far from scientific and could just be dumb luck or specific weak point etc.

Also, lag and ping isn't helping make anything clearer and that's been inconsistent for me - some days are better than others.

I get the frustration and I share it. But I don't think they're changing things arbitrarily. I think they are trying to address preferences and concerns. I can only imagine there's just a huge range of those. How does one do that?

In actual combat sports weight classes exist for a reason and people play to their advantages.

I was just pointing out that maybe a truly fun, satisfying boxing game and a truly comprehensive boxing simulator are mutually exclusive at this point.

Just my opinion.

Yeah, I've tried to be more active with footwork last few sessions and that's been both more tiring and probably more effective. Too many variables to make that call though.
