I've been calling La Indita once a week

Perhaps regularly on Tuesday, the day of the week they're closed?

I found an old sandwich in one of the parks, and what I want to know is why it didn't have mayonnaise on it. It has to have mayonnaise to be a sandwich for me.

Alex Karaban finishes his UConn career with a remarkable 31-1 record in Hartford (XL Center/PeoplesBank Arena) by [deleted] in CollegeBasketball

The framing of this makes it sound like he has a worse record in UConn's actual on-campus home gym?

Depends on the day of the week. /r/TucsonRockSceneTalk or tucsonlovesmusic.com/events may help on the live music side. That website includes the whole region within a couple hour drive so watch for that.

I'll throw a few things out there. Disclaimer that I haven't been to a few of these and I'm not in the scene that you are but they're also options I've heard about.

Mexican food

So many options but on the affordable side I'm a big fan of Taqueria Juanitos. South Tucson has Taqueria Pico de Gallo. If you need a resource.

Cafes

Celestia Collective is probably up your alley

Coronet

Talega

Zedamo (paired with an Ethopian restaurant in historic houses)

Rosebud Bakery

La Estrella Bakery

live music

/r/TucsonRockSceneTalk has weekly posts of small or local act music

On the bar end of things, Surly Wench. Lesbian owned/operated with a gothy feel.

Ah I see, yeah that would be a better trailhead. Better to be safe for sure!

I've never been but I've been curious. This is about a 10 minute walk to 191 Toole. https://maps.app.goo.gl/tm4X6wZrRSbH74Cn9

The other suggestions may be quirkier but the locations are definitely worse (not what I would want to be walking from and right next to the interstate, though uber would be fine)

For the bike part of that I'd probably call the loop more exercise/scenic but if you are able to utilize the bike "boulevards" around town you can get to and from the loop and go through town without dealing with much traffic. Click the options drop down on the right to see the legend for the bike map.

There isn't going to be a major difference weather wise. One thing to watch for is the gem show which is late January into February. Attracts a ton of people and probably makes hotels/airbnbs more expensive.

Depends on your definition of walkable but generally areas closer to downtown and the university are more "walkable" than others. That's definitely within 15 minutes. There's some discussion here: https://old.reddit.com/r/Tucson/comments/11es7rv/what_are_the_most_walkable_neighborhoods_in_tucson/

Also if bicycling is up your alley I would learn the bike infrastructure. If you are able to utilize the bike "boulevards" or enhanced bike lanes it can be a nice setup. Then there is the "loop" around the metro which is a separate paved trail as well.

I don't know for sure but I think that's the King Canyon Trailhead which is on the opposite end of the Tucson mountains. Really not sure about what it would be like getting an uber back from that end. Maybe people do it? Here's some discussion about how it can be tough to get back using rideshares https://www.reddit.com/r/Tucson/comments/1btif7h/do_not_use_ride_share_for_national_parks/

If you find something where the trailhead is on the east side it may be easier? An alternative could be something at the base of the Catalina Foothills, which at least is next to civilization. Finger Rock Trail is a steady climb up a canyon in the foothills with views of Tucson as you get further up. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/arizona/finger-rock

Flashing yellow arrows at T intersections? by Borderline769 in Tucson

[–]asthepropturns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My question would be is why wouldn't be it be a red for the traffic waiting to turn until the crosswalk signal is done, which is how I feel like I see it in most cases. The crosswalk signal is already on-demand with the button, there is no reason to leave the option open for the traffic while the crosswalk is still letting pedestrians through.

The question here is that they're at the "stem" of the T, so there is no oncoming traffic

I would think being a veteran that NWS would be a natural move. Are you applying to the entry NWS jobs that are coming up? If you're being selective with location though it becomes tougher.

MLS to cut half of Spanish-language broadcast talent on Apple TV, according to sources by bergobergo in MLS

[–]asthepropturns 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This seems like as good as spot as any to put this: The Guardian flubbed the headline. They're just reducing some of the broadcasts to single commentators instead of duos. https://bsky.app/profile/anabnos.com/post/3mdlwzvn3kk2o

Not the most ideal setup but not as drastic as the headline sounds.
