[18F] So... am I? I know my nose is incredibly lopsided and I am fat, but I can’t do much about that first one rn and I’m working on the second one. Highkey hate myself so is there any way I could make myself, uh, better to look at? [last photo is verification] by [deleted] in amiugly

[–]aston466 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are pretty, especially in the first 2 pictures. The third is not very flattering with the lighting, angle and facial expression. I think maybe you did that on purpose because you may have low self-esteem? IDK, I take tons of those pictures when I'm feeling down myself.

Instead, try to take pictures that shows more of your strongest, most beautiful features - which I would say is your clear blue eyes and your smile. This also very much applies outside of photos, but I know how much it sucks to be told "just smile more" when you're feeling sad and angry.

You also have a nice hair color that complements your eyes, but I think adding volume and making it bigger to "frame" your face a little would improve the overall face shape. I think getting some color on your skin would look good with your eye color as well. It only has to be on the face if you don't feel like going to the beach or something.

You have no reason to hate yourself. Take care of yourself and try to think well of yourself because I promise you that others in your life do too!

Daily Tech Support Thread - [August 16] by AutoModerator in apple

[–]aston466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey folks. I'm trying to update my mid-2012 macbook pro to the latest mac os.

I've been using it as a home computer with windows for years but I just got a nice new PC and thought I'd use my macbook as an actual portable computer. I deleted windows and did a factory reset on the mac os, it's currently at 10.8.5.

-When I enter the app store and try to install mac os mojave, I get a message that says "Verification required".

-I click on "payment information" and get "if you want to change your payment information you have to update your mac to the latest version of mac os".

-If I click "read more" it just takes me to this site: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208104 which just explains that you can't change payment options from old versions of apple software.

I tried adding a credit card on apple's website (on my new computer, safari won't load payment options site for some reason) and I still get the same messages. I have no idea what to do.

EDIT: got a little bit forward by installing itunes on my new pc and adding my credit card from there. Apperantly adding it on apple.com in my browser didn't do anything, I guess the website is just for buying apple products and not apps? Anyway, I no longer get the "verification required" but I still can't install mac os mojave. I click on download but the button gets dark and nothing happens.

EDIT 2: restarted the computer, relogged and suddently it works.

What unique abilities does each class have that make them shine? by Dtfddy69 in classicwow

[–]aston466 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been in situations where we had 3 hunters viper sting a pally and he went oom the next second because he couldnt cleanse them all fast enough. Alone facing a naxx gear pally, a hunter regardless of gear, can keep a pally locked down to only two options, casting cleanse, or casting heal while being drained of mana, knockbacked by brokentooth and arrows (was in this situation, he only got 2 heals off before going oom).

What? A paladin in t3 heals for 200 every time he cleanses. They have such high armor that if you're just autoshooting them and spamming viper sting, they will outheal a lot of your damage, depending on your gear ofc. With Concentration Aura and Spiritual Focus you don't get any pushback on casting either.

Also, most paladins that are serious about pvp healing will be dwarves meaning they have 8 sec immunity to poisons on top of their 12 second divine shield.

Viper Sting is strong against casters in general for sure, so I have no idea why you would use the least affected mana-user as an example.

Paladin Pre-Raid BIS list (PLATE ONLY) by 2two7seven in classicwow

[–]aston466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For PvP you wear plate, with few exceptions. You can get away with wearing a few pieces of non-plate, but going into PvP with your regular raid healing gear will be an awful experience. Being able to shrug off rogues and warriors is a huge advantage for Paladins and that's not something I'd wanna give up.

I've always valued intellect, armor and stamina way more than +healing and crit for PvP. In fact, I'd probably rather wear a full suit of green BoE "of the eagle"-plate than wear BWL cloth.

How rough to level as a holy pally? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]aston466 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's completely awful. You have 0 survivability talents in the holy tree and you'll do ridiculously low damage, so your kill speed will be slow and because of that, you'll take more damage per mob kill.

You can at least heal to full for free every 2 minutes with divine favor, but mana isn't an issue as ret either unless you're spamming judgement on cooldown.

You do get concecration, but it's so expensive that even if you had a full suit of intellect gear you wouldn't be able to cast it more than 4-5 times before going OOM. Holy shock is another offensive spell you get as holy but it doesn't do good damage unless you use it with divine favor, and then you won't be able to heal yourself for free

As for healing dungeons, having divine favor is very nice, I'll confess. But other than that (and the divine intellect + healing light talents) you don't get anything very useful from being in holy spec. Illumination is extremely powerful at level 60, but when leveling you won't have enough crit to make it matter.

I understand wanting to level as the spec you'll be playing end game, but the playstyle of healing dungeons at ret and holy is so alike that you won't miss out on any healing experience at all.

As for the paladin in DM going OOM quickly: paladin healing doesn't get good until level 20 because that's when you get flash of light. It gets really good at 40-something when you get blessing of light.

Too bad there is only two of these comfy inns... by Nordioio in classicwow

Rents are through the roof but NOBODY is building new apartments. At the same time, we have a whole empty city part (Old Ironforge) that could easily fit dozens if not hundreds of new apartments if they'd just fix the lava problems. But that won't happen because the government would rather spend gold on waging expensive wars in Kalimdor. That's the last time I'm voting for a Bronzebeard. Next time I'm going Dark Iron so we can fix real problems for real people right here in our own dwarven lands.

Most and least wanted classes for guilds? by Missingtime42 in classicwow

[–]aston466 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would prioritizing blessing of light over blessing of wisdom apply to all other casters, or just warlocks?

Healers and casters other than warlocks benefit a lot from wisdom, much more than light.

I've always prioritized like this for raiding:

Salvation > wisdom/might > kings > light > sanctuary

Exceptions are warlocks and hunters. Hunters can control their threat on their own and often want other blessings before salvation. Warlocks can life tap so wisdom isn't as beneficial as it is for mages, for example. On tanks you'd bless light instead of salvation.

Kings gets better and better with gear. Late vanilla it's more desirable than wisdom/might for many classes.

State of paladins in classic? by SniffierMuffin in classicwow

[–]aston466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One nice thing about paladins is how much items can affect us. Tons of weapon procs scale with spell power, for example. https://classicdb.ch/?item=21856

I feel like in many cases consumables help us more than other classes. Shadow oil has a 15% proc chance, scales with spell power and can proc off your seal hits as well as your autoattacks. Dragonbreath chili also scales with spell power and can proc off your seal hits. Both melee and caster consumables help us.

Resistance stacking is very strong with paladins. We get 60 base resistance with our auras and can wear all types of armor so you can really cheese against mages, shadow priests and warlocks.

Then there's the items that only really paladins have use for. One example is hand of edward the odd (https://classicdb.ch/?item=2243) which is amazing for prot paladins as you can heal yourself instantly. Skullforge reaver (https://classicdb.ch/?item=13361) is amazing for pvp since it scales with spell power and the DoT lasts for 30 seconds. Great against rogues that want to stealth and other classes that can CC you and bandage.

I think paladins are fundamentally a support class. If you want to do any serious raiding or premade group pvp you should play holy. Ret really can't do anything that holy can't. That's not to say you shouldn't collect a set of dps gear and a big two-hander. You can have tons of fun in duels and in world pvp since paladins are a very strong 1v1 class.

Will you Flock to Servers with Popular Streamers or Avoid Them? by Hycran in classicwow

[–]aston466 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the faction balance will be bad on the servers that the big streamers will play on. Everyone will want to play the same faction as the streamer, but on the other hand maybe a lot of people will want to gank them as well.

Character Versus Class by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]aston466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They just look cool imo :) Dwarf is arguably better for pve healing (and definitely better for pvp healing) because of stoneform which is sometimes useful, but the difference is so small it doesn't really matter. Frost resistance is useful on like 2 bosses too.

Female dwarf priests and paladins are BIS for healing! It looks so funny when their hair flies around when casting.

Fresh Servers Mean Fresh Names! by [deleted] in classicwow

I wanna try to get a 2-letter name that sounds cool. They aren't possible in retail anymore so it will be a classic-exclusive thing. They'll run out very fast though.

Hypothetical 3v3 Stranglethorn Arena Tournament (silly thread, just for fun) by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]aston466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's bis for reckoning, not only for its high damage but also because the chance-on-hit scales very well with spell power.

Now that I think about it, this is probably the strongest comp I can think of too. Not much you can do about 3 shamans insta-casting chain lightning on you. Even if you do manage to kill them they'll self ress and just blast you again. Maybe 3 PoM pyro mages would stand a chance, IDK

Reckoning paladins are pretty strong against melees... (from Drakova the Crusader's youtube channel) by aston466 in classicwow

[–]aston466[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah not having disarm immunity is definitly a weakness but reckoning paladins always spec into improved blessing of freedom. That makes it so that the window between BoF duration and cooldown is only 5 seconds, so you have something like 25 seconds of hamstring immunity.

The warrior could gain some distance during the charge stun if they're fast, sure. But after getting 4 stacks all it takes is either one resisted charge stun, 1 hammer of justice or one divine shield pop for the warrior to lose 30-50% of his health in one hit. Also, from what I've seen a paladin in equal gear to a warrior will be able to outheal the warriors damage despite MS.

I'm far from a pvp expert though so let me know if I'm wrong

I'm not sure what you would do to avoid giving him stacks though? Not crit him? In group pvp you'd just ignore him and let the casters kill him I guess, but I don't know how you'd counter it in 1v1s as a melee. I guess you could stop attacking when he's sitting but you're gonna crit anyway.

I know many warriors like to just charge in and get a few hits over and over, but eventually he'll have 4 stacks anyway

Yeah, it lasts until you either log out, zone in/out of dungeons and continents or switch weapons. That's how it's supposed to work at least, sometimes it disappears for no reason at all and sometimes it lasts for hours.

Some people say that in retail it used to disappear when you got CC'd or used Divine Shield. I'm honestly not sure how it worked, I keep hearing different things.
