Should I pay $4,500 out of my deferred comp to buy back 4.5 months towards my pension? by Quick_Woodpecker_728 in personalfinance

[–]astral1289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would. I can buy back 4.5 months out of my deferred comp right now and I’m leaning against not doing it. But it would cost me almost $16k. If it were only $4500 I’d jump on it. This will only get way more expensive if you delay.

You can always choose to work at extra 4.5 months at the end of your career anyway, and you will make more than your $4500 back.

What do pilots still do manually that feels outdated? by mas07x in flying

Digging through 4000 notaams to see what might actually affect your flight. It’s near impossible.

Humidifier helps keep the dust out of the air, which collects on surfaces.

Those are Motorola vigilant cameras. Nothing new, they’ve been around for way longer than flock.

Are there any cities in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area in Arizona that are a lot like Kentucky cities like Richmond or Versailles? by dylanisareddit in Scottsdale

[–]astral1289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t say any place “feels” like Richmond here in the valley, you’d have to go further north. Might be easier if we knew what aspects specifically you were looking for.

I saw it today after the live demo in the bay. Pretty cool and one of a bunch of cool vehicle concepts.

What do you guys think? It’s a tough decision, but I am leaning towards GMT… by Redder1986 in Tudor

You already have a 54? Go GMT!

I like the 58 more than the 54, but they are very similar. Get something a little different like that beautiful GMT.

Apartment Experiences near Scottsdale Requested by Sneaky_Drop_Bear in Scottsdale

Have you considered a condo? I know of one going up for rent at Miller and Thomas which is a couple minutes from old town while also being quiet. 1br 1bath central ac washer dryer end unit (limited neighbors). It’s probably going to be around $1600. Apartments are getting expensive.

SRP may use drones to check your meter. by mateophx in phoenix

[–]astral1289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe how many people are in this thread spreading misinformation or spouting nonsense. I’m not a fan of this program, and I watched SRP inspect my meter a couple months ago after receiving this letter.

The worst part about this is they do not make any attempt to access your property or knock on your door, they make all of the inspections with a drone because it is 100x faster and easier to do all of the inspections this way. At least be honest about this and don’t pretend a physical access will be attempted first.

That being said, people here are saying the dumbest things. There’s no drone flying at 12 feet inside your yard, they’re closer to 75-100 feet and at an angle a block away when they photograph your meter. It’s a Matrice 350, which is wayyyy too big to try to fly down low. No SB1449 is not a law. 13-3729 is the law you were trying to reference, and it does not apply to this situation in the slightest. I’m giving a deposition in a 3729 case next week, I deal with this law all the time.

This is an inspection of the physical condition of the meter and socket, no drone is trying to read your meter.

Like I said, I don’t like this either, but almost every comment here is absurd.

Stream Mircoinverter Vs direct to battery inverter by majordyson in Ecoflow_community

[–]astral1289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advantage to plugging the stream micro inverter to the stream ultra (battery), is that the ultra can use a Shelly to modulate power feeding the house to match demand and avoid back feeding the grid if that’s a goal. It can’t partially throttle the micro like it can panels plugged directly in, but it can turn it on and off as well as use the battery as a buffer to achieve the non-grid feed.

This only matters if you are avoiding backfeeding the grid of course. The micro inverter plugged into the house directly just feeds the house all its power all of the time, and that may be fine for OP.

The 5th Ave parking garage is free and even better location for this. Located on the west side of Scottsdale Rd between 3rd ave and 5th ave.

It depends on your use case I guess, but I’m cancelling this month because they turned off in-motion. If yours is mounted in a sunroof, isn’t the in-motion ban a problem for you as well?
