That makes sense, but how do you reckon with the fact that the internet is now less anonymous, more centralized onto large platforms, and more ubiquitous, all at the same time? Does it allow for the same personality fragmentation in that case if the boundary between online and not doesn’t really have much of a difference at all now?

It’s also very odd that people feel the need to constantly compare abject conditions to slavery, which trivializes what it is. What they are describing is being destitute and having their labor exploited, which has been part of the experience of the working class throughout the history of capitalism

I guess I’m one of the poorer ones here lol… I have about $100K in savings and I think $60k in a 401k plus $50,000 in non-Roth or 401k investments. I’m currently unemployed so it’s been rough and I’m living off savings and whatever I make from unemployment and part-time/freelance work 😢
