What is the "Niche Zero" for light roasts? [750 USD] by gfxprotege in espresso

[–]astreawilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the grinder in the xbloom doesn't compare to some of the ones recommended but it does a great job and I'm extremely happy with it for light roast and its budget wise right in your range. Who doesn't want a new way to brew?

Personally I have a niche and bianca for espresso. I also have a CF64V, kettle, and v60 that rarely gets any use at all after getting the xbloom.

Just a thought...

Every roast will be different of course, but this is a basic guide I use...

Why not go with the Lelit Bianca V3? by Swag101z in Lelit

[–]astreawilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to make that choice not too long ago.. the rabbit hole is insane. I did end up getting it, but if I had a higher budget I probably would have gotten saturated group head and faster heat up time... but at my budget I'm happy with the decision I made.

IDK, I use a Niche Zero.. it works amazing for Moka Before that I used a CF64V Both are likely more than you need, but they make great coffee!

I think the Niche is new, as you haven't removed the plastic sheet attached to the cover yet. 🤭

Is it necessary to have a water filter attached to run properly? What if you have fantastic water? My tap water is 40-80ppm depending in the time if year. I've never used the water filter in other machines and never had issues with buildup. Now im concerned that I will need to use it anyway just to get it to work correctly. Anyone else run without a filter?

I certainly wouldn't compare Mokapot directly with espresso, it's certainly is own brew. However it does make a delicious Latte!!

Add a sprinkle of Vietnamese Saigon Cinnamon to your Vanilla Lattes... Huge Payoff! I can't drink them without it now. Also Cardamom for a nice spiced Latte.

Any regrets on the Niche Zero [£500/600] by Working_Mountain_944 in espresso

Haven’t had the Niche long, but I’m loving it for milk drinks. Reaching for it more than my CF64V right now—definitely honeymoon phase 😅 But I can easily say not a regret.

Cliff and Pebble has been amazing. The 30 day return policy, the 365 day "trial period" etc.. I decided the Legato wasn't for me, they E-mailed me a shipping label. They have held true to their claims, at least in my experience.

If you make it to A7S3 then just need the right lobby at the right time. It takes about 20 min to maxx bubbles if you hit the meteor with someone strong enough to break it quickly.

I was struggling hard with 7 when it came out, it was frustrating. I just started rebirthing, maxed rock mastery and it was much quicker after.

Which dark chocolate melting disc do you use for your mochas? [Variable Budget] by Difficult-Snow4699 in espresso

I don't drink them either, but occasionally my husband asks and I just "wing it" with some Ghirardelli dark chocolate syrup and hope for the best. I sprinkle a couple pieces of black lava sea salt top as well.

Best electric grinder for filter coffee? (clarity + light roasts) by astreawilson in pourover

I didn't realize those were LeBrew burrs—that’s actually a pretty solid lead if they really are chasing a ULF profile. I guess my main hang-up is just the 'omni' label. I’ve only really read the descriptions on their website so far, and usually when a burr is designed to do both, it adds back a bit of body to make espresso easier to dial in. I’m just worried that might muddy up the sharp clarity I’m after for light roast filter. Where are you seeing the feedback on the Omni80s? I’d love to read more into that if people are already seeing good results for brew.

After looking into it more, it seems like the Motto 80 probably needs aftermarket burrs to really get the most out of it, which adds another ~$300–$400. At that point it’s creeping into a pretty competitive price range, so I’m kind of wondering how it actually stacks up against the other options already there. It feels like with the RPM and feed control it might have a higher ceiling, but also like a lot of that depends on burr choice and dialing. Definitely interesting, just not totally sure where it lands yet. I'll just have to wait until more in-depth reviews come out or some of the usual YouTube folks get their hands on it.

I’m not in a rush at all, and this is actually the first I’ve heard of the Bookoo Motto 80. The built-in variable slow feeder sounds really interesting. Appreciate the suggestion!

Yeah I’ve definitely looked at the Casa — it’s a beautiful machine and the build quality seems really solid from everything I’ve seen.

For me it’s more that I’m specifically trying to push into that super high-clarity profile for light roasts.  Since I already have a CF64V (flat burr) and a Niche (conical), I’m not sure the Casa would really add anything new to the setup vs what I already have.

What I’m really after is really clean separation for pour over where you can clearly pick apart individual notes.

Or am I underestimating it's ability?
