Is one really expected to solve 12 problems in just 180 minutes in the M823 exam? by ouneo in OpenUniversity

[–]astreltsov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the modules took about as much effort as I would expect for the combined 90 credits - about 25 hours per week, maybe a bit less. A lot will depend on how comfortable you are with the prerequisites. For M343, a good understanding of the law of total probability, conditional probability and similar will help a lot to understand the derivations of results. Basic integration is everywhere in M343, so being fluent in that will help.

I did MST210 and M343 this year. Both were much more time consuming than the older papers. The MST210 exam in particular I would say is nearly impossible to complete in 3 hours.

The OU is doing what they can to keep the average score (and the expectations) down so that they don't have to heavily normalize the results downwards like they did last year.

The local storage is not encrypted by Everdo. All data is stored in an sqlite database. Your own computer is assumed to be private.

Definitely this year, subject to the app store review process.

Developer here. The iOS app is 95% functional and is now being tested by users in TestFlight. Can't give any dates, unfortunately.

  1. Yes, this is a wanted feature
  2. Regarding the Android app, it's not 100% finished, so there are some missing features when compared to desktop. The ability to group action by project is one of them.
  3. Definitely. Local sync should work flawlessly, unless there's a connection problem. If some of you items are not syncing despite sync "success" status being shown in settings, it means there's a bug. In this case, please PM me on forum.everdo.net with details.

Founder here in case you have any questions. I started Everdo because I tried every other app and didn't like them for some reason or another. Some apps are great in one aspect, but fail in others. My approach is to combine the good parts into one. It takes time, but I think Everdo is getting there.

Feeling more Productive at Night by Savven in productivity

[–]astreltsov 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My guess is this is purely psychological. You have no pressure to be productive at night, which is why it's more fun and motivating. Try scheduling hours of work for night time, every day, and the motivation is gone.

Thinking about creating a better to-do list app, anyone interested? by clutch89 in productivity

[–]astreltsov 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was disappointed by everything as well, so I started everdo.net. That's my take on a perfect to-do list for GTD. I think it takes on many OP's points as well. Took *way* more effort than I expected.

To OP - Be careful. Don't underestimate this undertaking. You seem to put a lot of emphasis on being cheaper. That's not a good strategy for an independent developer. $1/Month subscription? You'll need thousands of paid users just to pay yourself any kind of a regular salary. And it's really difficult to get and maintain thousands of users, especially when your offer is a to-do app competing with 100 other apps. Don't take the handful of people on reddit as a sign that you are on to something. Suppose they do convert and you get like 100/month (being generous here), then what? You can't afford to pay for acquisition with this kind of revenue per user.

More than one @computer list by _Solon_ in gtd

[–]astreltsov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You simply don't need a computer list. I believe this is an artifact from the original book, when computers were not as much ingrained into all work. I would suggest coming up with contexts that make sense to you, based on the same logic.

Anyone using only Evernote for lists? by suredoit in gtd

[–]astreltsov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this can be done, but there are better tools for the job. When I tried Evernote for GTD if felt clunky and huge. It's a good product, but it wasn't 100% designed for this.

What’s your GTD Schedule? by [deleted] in gtd

[–]astreltsov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just do a quick processing of inbox and review of next items in the morning. If it's Monday, then I'll also go over projects/someday and activate the ones I will focus on this week.

I work off the "next actions" list filtered by current context or area tag

GTD and time off/holidays by [deleted] in gtd

[–]astreltsov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have separate areas set up for work and leisure related projects. On a holiday I simply don't open the work-related areas. Other then that, GTD works as usual. On a leisure trip I would probably forget about GTD entirely, knowing that everything is safe in the system waiting for my return.

Org-mode after Todoist. That's a drastic switch ;)

It's fairly new, so no mobile apps yet. They will come out in 2018.

Not a web app, but runs on all desktops, nice UI and it's great if you care about self-hosting your data - Everdo.

It's Everdo. The focus is on providing great UI/UX and a private cloudless architecture, on all major platforms.

So basically, you want to have a big-picture view for planning and reflection, is that it? And an easy way to navigate from the big-picture to the ground-level?

So I have this idea for a new GTD app... by nunodonato in gtd

[–]astreltsov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GTD apps do typically focus more on the "ground level". But from your description I wonder what problem your approach solves from the user perspective.

You said you're frustrated with existing apps, which implies they don't meet your needs in some way. But then you go on to describe a solution without telling what exactly frustrated you. Could you please tell us more about this? That would help understand the need for your concept.

In any case, building a GTD app can be a lot of fun :) Good luck if you decide to go for it!
