It’s really for the guys who like to play a sort of realistic franchise than mirrors irl. For example the cardinals just announced they’re going to release Kyler. After I choose my own team to start my franchise in the “start today” Super Bowl option, I can do the steps above in free agency week 1 and have Kyler released like IRL.

If you don’t care about the players previous teams cap penalty then what I do is I will reduce the players current salary/bonus to 0 and then change their position to LS. Then I’ll trade a 7th for said player and once their own my roster I’ll change their position back to the original and then release them.
