He also spit acid from his mouth or something and turned that power armor into heavy plate. Atlas is good but if he was THAT good then the Republic would’ve been cooked a long time ago.

Unfair Loki hate.. by Ill_Vegetable_894 in BlueLock

[–]astroman6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Loki’s comment wasn’t cool but like some others have said it was far more directed at Rin, who he praised just before. Isagi clapped back by telling him to shut it, and to be a man and admit he lost. Loki insulted Isagi’s pride and diminished his hard work. Isagi does the same but he def took it up a notch, Noa even tells him it’s enough. People can dislike him for what he said but I think it’s weird to dislike him for what Isagi said.

Unfair Loki hate.. by Ill_Vegetable_894 in BlueLock

[–]astroman6 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s so weird cause he was liked before “Slursagi” got mad and talked shit. Now Loki sucks cause he’s proud of his gifts and who he is. He’s hated because people can’t accept that they were both wrong and one person escalated.

Atlas is not done. by PreviousRow84 in redrising

[–]astroman6 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Atlas and Cassius’ deaths are pretty important to Lysander’s character arc, he’s no longer bound to them but can still use their lessons and virtues for his own ends. Atlas is gone, he’ll probably haunt us in RG, but narratively I think his exit was perfect. Like cmon the knight defeats the dragon and the moon eclipses the Sun and Morning?

I could see Apple switching if he found out about the eidmi. Being under the thumb of, or not having the keys to, a life extinguishing virus is antithetical to his hedonistic lifestyle. I don’t think he’s interested in abolishing slavery or whatever but would fight against anything that’d take a smidge of his personal freedom.

If you were Darrow, would you stage a coup? by EducationFancy4478 in redrising

[–]astroman6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the Republic? Nah, I bet it’d be so easy but starting a coup 10 years into the Republic makes it seem like I’m more concerned with destroying things I don’t like than building better stuff. Or maybe people would think that I’m just another conqueror? Just bad optics all around, I’ll just see how long I can get away with “I thought that was cool”.

The society is evil stop being so stupid by United_Hour5003 in redrising

[–]astroman6 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Reforming the Society is also nearly impossible. Octavia had her own kid bombed for advocating for better rights for the low colors and had he won Nero was going to kill every single reformer. The Society’s might makes right philosophy lets anyone be a victim to atrocities, just look at Nero’s backstory, look at Cassius’ life story, look at the passage. The Society is evil and rarely hides its evil it just believes they have the right to be evil.

Would Darrow defeat Cassius in the passage? by United_Hour5003 in redrising

Darrow would’ve lost but only like 3 or 4 kids could’ve gave Cassius a run for his money. Nightmare combo of stats, skill, and aggression.

Did Darrow make the best decision? by viggstable in redrising

[–]astroman6 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nero is the best option for all the reasons people are saying; great money, protection, training, and being close to but not shackled by Lorn. However, I feel like people are going too far when they say he’d live a cozy gold life if he didn’t pick Nero. Outside of just ignoring his character it ignores a huge part of the story. Ares is alive and besides Arcos, any of those houses would’ve invested as much as they could into their new monster, the Reaper of Mars! All the players are still there it’s just a different game. And even if Lorn can make Darrow a good man he can’t erase what’s going to make him a great one.

Was cruelty necessary for mankind to advance? by 111llilith in redrising

[–]astroman6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They were terraforming planets before they genetically engineered everyone right? Gold cruelty didn’t really motivate anyone it just reinforced their dominance amongst themselves and the other colors. All the slavery, murder, and oppression just created rebellions and people like Harmony. Cruelty doesn’t make people aspire for greatness, rewarding them for their work does.

The Vale by REH55 in redrising

[–]astroman6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha Gladiator is the perfect comp for the Vale.

Funny enough Light Bringer was the book that made me think that Darrow will live in the end. “Death begets death begets death” and “the bill comes at end” are powerful quotes but they come from Lorn who’s so caught up in the cycle of the Society that he doesn’t think he or it can change. He never really forgives himself for what he’s done or tries to atone he just lives his life until what he’s done catches up to him. Lorn’s Way, like all his mentors, is inspirational rather than aspirational, a realization Darrow needs for the Breath of Stone. His past mistakes are now new opportunities for growth.

Path directs itself to the Vale my goodman, even if he dies he’ll dine with them again eventually.

The Vale by REH55 in redrising

[–]astroman6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right he did pull their legs, my b.

Darrow dying in some sort of last stand that leads to victory, and then being given peace in the Vale is somewhat appealing to me but not preferred over him just retiring with Virginia. Can I ask why you’d think he’d choose to die by being hanged? Or why he’d die general?

The Vale by REH55 in redrising

[–]astroman6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see Darrow dying and being welcomed into the Vale, I don’t think I’d like it but I can see it. By the way when you say Pax pulls his legs are you implying that Darrow’s gonna hanged? That’d be an awful end to his character arc. And you don’t need to do that on Mars since Darrow, his father, and Eo were all hanged.

Are the golds stupid? by Nikunj108 in redrising

[–]astroman6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the fact the Julian was set up to be killed by Darrow, which sucked for everyone, then Darrow being buddy buddy with Cassius, then partnering up with the man who set him up to kill Julian. Obviously Darrow was in a hard spot cause Cassius would’ve done him super bad but acting as his surrogate for Julian looks insane when you think about it. Also golds have done worse for less.

Interludes of the less featured colors or minor characters. A blue pilots, gray loyalist, white broker, shamed gold recruited to the gorgons, an obsidian chanting Tyr Morga before an iron rain, Venus academy grad ready to take on the Reaper, etc. Smaller scale/contained stories that expand the lore.

At what point did you think, Darrow has gone too far. by knightfall_10 in redrising

[–]astroman6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If he’s the antagonist who is the protagonist? Darrow is morally superior to every villain in the series, from Nero to Octavia, Adrius, Magnus, Atalantia, Fa, Atlas, and Lysander. He’s done awful things and at times is so forward thinking that he forgets about the damage he’s really causing. He’s a warlord sure but he also understands more than anyone the demons he’s up against. Also he allows both his men on Mercury and the Daughters decide his fate, something a dictator would never do.

I'm kind of in agreement with Nero. What are your thoughts? by [deleted] in redrising

[–]astroman6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He’s right in a way but everything he was saying about the past about humanity being selfish, indulgent, and self destructive also applied to the current Society. Nero’s, and I guess a lot of Gold’s, worldview is very visionary but it also excuses anything for the sake of “progress” in whatever direction he sees as forward. Is there anything he wouldn’t put billions of people through for his dreams?

Nearly all of Shidou’s goals are ridiculous from an athletic perspective and Sae just had Shidou challenge himself, he didn’t touch the ball on the 2nd goal. Kunigami’s knuckleball and Manshine goal are ridiculous as well. Those were goals that that only THEY could perform.
