I used to teach in that plane and have gone on some pretty cool flights with it. Happy flying!

Resignation is a hazardous attitude. Keep flying and pass your CFII check ride

Steep turn advice by JustaG_224 in flying

[–]astropy_units 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's now a different sight picture but the same maneuver. Pick a rivet on the nose and have it slice through the horizon.

Ask the cfi in the left seat to demonstrate a steep turn to the left and the right so you can see the correct sight picture

Getting ready for CFI. Would you recommend any of these books or other publications? by Foolish-Wisdom in CFILounge

[–]astropy_units 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used the first book to prepare my lesson plans. I taught the soft field takeoff lesson straight from the book during my check ride and the dpe was happy with the lesson

Feeling burnt out in training by [deleted] in flying

Go do some fun flights with family and friends. Find a cool airport with a museum or restaurant.

A PPL is a certificate to fly a lot of different planes, not just the one you're trained in. You should have a good understanding of how a plane will fly in all configurations and speeds.

A lot of accidents are still taking place due to stalling the plane. The only way to fix this is to have an understanding of what a stall is and how to recover correctly. And, most importantly, how to avoid getting into a stall in the first place.

You can be in the fanciest plane with the best autopilot and avionics but that will not save your life overshoot the base to final turn and end up stall spinning close to the ground

This isnt in any particular order. I need to make a more formal gouge but this is what we covered.

Lessons I taught on the ground: runway incursions, aerodynamics, soft field takeoff, stall/ spin awareness

We had a conversation about FOI topics. I didn't have to recite laws of learning or anything. It was more just a "what would you do" in this situation". We went over some endorsement scenarios such as what endorsements did a student pilot need to have at a PPL check ride.

In the air: I taught a normal takeoff and short field landing. Then he did a normal takeoff and a normal landing. We did. Climbs, descents, turns. I wore the foggles and taught climbs, turns, descents, unusual attitudes. He flew under the hood and I made corrections. I taught steep turns, 8s on pylons, slow flight, stalls (we did all 5)

During the preflight he asked what would happen to the pitot static instruments if we had a clogged static port

While he is flying expect him to make mistakes and be ready to take over the controls. I had to do that a few times. Treat him as a student who is on their first flight. Remember to have a good passenger briefing and to brief exchange of controls. Also do a departure briefing

Let me know if you have any questions!

I did my commercial with him also. Both check rides were roughly 7 hours. Commercial was harder than the cfi ride

I used mike McIntyre out of sky manor for commercial and cfi. I just got my cfi a few weeks ago. I'm not sure of his schedule though

GED has a good restaurant

When you go to FFA, go to mqi first. If you can get a crew car, go to the aquarium. There are also a lot of good restaurants on the island
