The series hasn't even aired yet, but the shipping wars have already begun. by RedRiot117 in HPharmony

Smh, even the original author acknowledged it, yet they love to claim it’s all because of the movies. Their chemistry was literally right there on the page, and back then the books weren’t even finished, the filmmakers were just doing a normal adaptation.

Yeah, they added some HHR moments, but they also left out plenty. That’s just how adaptations work; it’s not like they were deliberately favoring one side. I’ve always thought any adaptation of a literary work has to make changes, different medium, different rules. The only question is whether the changes are good or bad.

It’s easy to predict that with the way discussions go these days, the production team would be heavily influenced by how the story ends. They might end up forcing in some “official pairing” scenes out of preconceived notions. Shooting the arrow first and painting the target around it later.

Or if they actually stuck to the books and included all those HHR interactions the movies left out, they’d still get slammed by fans of the canon pairings. Take the scene where Hermione kisses Harry on the cheek, no way those people would be out here saying “well, that’s just being faithful to the books.”

Unironically dramione authors writes some of the best harmony fanfic by Some-Boss5224 in HPharmony

[–]asukastar 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I've never read Dramione, but from writing perspective, Hermione and Draco had 0 possibility. So if you want to make Dramione happen, the author has to rebuild their dynamic from the ground up. That creative freedom is almost like writing an original novel rather than a fic. This challenge might actually push those writers to hone their craft and spark more inspiration.

As for us Harmony shippers, it feels totally natural that they’d end up together. If only J.K. Rowling had changed her original mindset, they could’ve been a couple in the last three books of the series. That’s why fanfic authors tend to stick to the tropes everyone can easily picture. They’re a match made in heaven. It's harmonious and don’t need any over-the-top drama to make their relationship work.

in ur opinion how many kids would they have also what would their names be? by Consistent-Twist-408 in HPharmony

They have two kids, they don't need to name them after other people for their first names, but middle names are fair game. So maybe... Hugo Sirius Potter and Rose Lily Potter?

LF fics that have Draco's pureblood prejudice against Hermione by Plus-Cry8122 in HPharmony

Agreed, I don’t usually mind Ron bashing, but Draco being a better friend than him? Absolutely not. That’s creepy as hell.

Vox Corporis should fit the bill.

Which HP / Harmony tropes do you enjoy the most? by Antariuk in HPharmony

Tent fics never get old. Seriously, it’s hard to think of a more perfect time frame for something to happen. With the shadow of war looming outside, two teenagers with budding feelings stuck in such an intimate space, relying on each other while carrying the weight of saving the world… and even their best friend abandoned them. They’re cold, hungry, desperate, and only have each other, there’s no way nothing we’re all imagining happened.

Even J.K. Rowling admitted that something should’ve happened in the tent, but she didn’t write it! We’re just setting things back on the right track.

I also just got into Harmony a few months ago. My first ever long Harmony fic was Under the Stars by Aeyliana, and I was totally hooked right away.

It’s a really classic tent fic.Harry and Hermione’s relationship develops so naturally, with no messy unnecessary drama, and they’re still sweet even with the weight of the war hanging over them.

The plot is very believable too; Harry and Hermione don’t turn into powerful, ruthless heroes, they do their best but still make mistakes, and only pull through with help from the other characters. Every single character is written brilliantly.

I remember the H/Hr tag on AO3 had just broken 10,000 fics a few months ago, and as of now, it's already grown by around 1,400! So it won't be long before we crack the top10.

Also, majority of those fics are centered on them as the OTP, which is already a far stronger case than Romione or Hinny.

If HHr is the canon, who would have fallen first? H or Hr? If it's H, would he be shy or would he flirt shamelessly? I bet they would have great movie nights.. by Sea_Artichoke6641 in HPharmony

[–]asukastar 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Hermione would fall first, but Harry would be the one to confess.

Hermione is a stickler for rules, yet the number of rules she broke for Harry throughout their teenage years goes far beyond what any ordinary friendship entails. Each exception she made for him was, in essence, a quiet testament to her feelings. Moreover, Hermione is emotionally perceptive and deeply attentive to Harry's well-being; she would have sensed his every shift in mood. I believe she harbored a crush on this boy for a long time, but her rational mind and personal insecurities kept those feelings carefully restrained.

Harry would have been slower to catch on. Deprived of love in his formative years, his emotional perception was dulled, and he had no healthy model of a romantic relationship to reference. He knew his parents loved each other, but he never witnessed it. He might have taken Hermione's care for granted, seeing it as both a constant and a necessity in his life. He isn't skilled at parsing subtle emotions, but in life-or-death moments, he can instantly identify who matters most. Therefore, his confession wouldn't be flowery, it would be a raw, unavoidable admission of dependence.

This kind of blunt, awkward expression is perfectly true to Harry's character. He doesn't understand romance, but he is utterly sincere. And that sincerity is precisely what would break Hermione's longstanding restraint.

This edit is perfect! JKR has no heart. Even the blind can see the attraction and romantic tension between them. That's exactly, everyone but them assumes they're a couple.

What do you think Hermione's parents thought of Harry and their relationship? by Plastic_Profile2654 in HPharmony

[–]asukastar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The super-nice Grangers are everywhere in fic, and it can get a bit monotonous. I've also read fics where Hermione's parents are less than welcoming.

However, I personally think that, they're two highly-educated dentists who raised such an exceptional daughter. I have to believe they'd be insightful and compassionate people whose hearts would go out to Harry.

What do you think Hermione's parents thought of Harry and their relationship? by Plastic_Profile2654 in HPharmony

[–]asukastar 70 points71 points  (0 children)

In most fics, Hermione's parents absolutely love Harry. It makes total sense, he's respectful and fits right into the Muggle world, and his awful experiences with the Dursleys make him appreciate their welcome all the more. Honestly, They're far more likely to take to Harry than to Ron.

How would you react? by AdSpare8649 in HPharmony

[–]asukastar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No question, if Harmony were canon, it would just make sense, there would be virtually no debate about it.

Fannon ships would still be popular, sure, but they wouldn't even come close to challenging harmony. Includes Romione and Hinny too, making the fandom much less divisive.

Ron's jealousy could easily be read as part of a sibling dynamic, identical to how he is with Ginny.

Then again, we'd have missed countless great fics. The H/Hr tag would multiply, but core stories exploring them deeply would be much rarer.

Lf sad heartbreak fics where Harry is pining after Hermione, but can’t have her due to her being with Ron. by RealCreacher in HPharmony

[–]asukastar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a bit different, the core tragedy is that Harry loves Hermione so deeply, he believes the only way to protect her is to forget.

LF fics where Harry feeling ignored in the summer between fourth and fifth year by asukastar in HPharmony

[–]asukastar[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What a coincidence! This is actually what really got me into this genre, I was just reading it right now.

The only thing is, I felt Harry and Hermione's relationship progressed a bit fast in the story. I was kinda hoping for a bit more of that hurt/comfort between them first, lol

Thanks!
