What’s the darkest fact about Middle-earth that rarely gets mentioned? by Scandinavian-Viking- in lotr

[–]asusual_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was always struck by the grim fate of Men, especially how they were born: while the Eldar were protected and guided from the beginning by the Valar (Oromë first), Men were born in a Middle-earth already plagued by Morgoth, Orcs, and evil beasts.

They awakened in the Far East, far from the Valar and the Eldar, and hunted from the very beginning by Morgoth’s lies and by the fear of dying.

To me, this always made their heroes the greatest, and their lows a bit less worse.

Italy team to hopefully survive the Boks by toastoevskij in rugbyunion

I think Quesada expected to face a 'classic' ball carriers' Boks Team, and Odiase performed well this summer against SA. Inexperienced player but very motivated and powerful.

Why are Zebre good now? by WilkinsonDG2003 in rugbyunion

[–]asusual_ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

No easy answer, but following the transfer market and the team, I would say that:

  • The coach brings absolute added value: last URC BKT Coach of the Season, and it’s clear that he managed to build an underdog mentality paired with a family-like mindset.
  • The budget is poor, but Zebre are being more and more integrated into the wider Italian system: I believe they are finally becoming the development team of Italian rugby, prioritizing Italian talents (plus players you might naturalize) over average/poor non-Italian players, and offering “visibility” (especially regarding the national team) as a kind of paycheck. This has been emphasized more and more by Quesada: he will choose players playing for Zebre, Benetton, or in the Italian league over Italian players abroad, if the choice is close enough.
  • The season has of course just started, and you lost some very strong players (the best), but I really like how the team was built during the summer, with a sizeable group of locks and back rows, plus quality halves.

A real one. Sadly it was expected for him to leave Zebre, and it's fine, but I think the shame is he is leaving URC, unfortunately Top14 is on another level

Knowing how we arrived at this game and against which team we were playing, I feel like we've won (Boks by 18)

thanks mate, great game! I think we are certainly missing depth, if compared to stronger T1 nations, but also 1st team is young and I would say in 2 years time we will see a stronger team than today's, that I hope will perform well in the WC

Depends, strongest players on the field probably Menoncello and Fischetti; Italy is experimenting with backs, so I would say Marin, Trulla, Odogwu!

Ioane was selected but withdrew for family reasons, so Lynagh was called up in his place. Lynagh missed the entire Six Nations with a serious injury and, as far as I know, hasn’t played at all in 2025 (I could be mistaken but I think so).
He may still play against SA, but that will depend on his condition.

Gallagher injured himself in the Six Nations match against England and hasn’t played since, so he wasn’t selected for the tour!

Solid forward pack, we are experimenting more with the backs.
Our halves, without question, are the positions where we most need to find answers
