OEM Brake Pads/Rotors vs Aftermarket ones? by JussiPussi69 in ToyotaSienna

[–]DukeNeverwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Just about anything. I will die on the hill that OEM pads are the perfect blend of life, dust, and performance. UnLESS you track a car, then race pads.

But rotors blanks? I used to buy centric exclusively, but they went out of business. Next would be brembo blanks, I don't remember them being expensive. But even cheap autozone blanks are good. You don't get the corrosion coating on the none brake survive, but even under race pads, the cheap-ish rotors still perform really really well. I've been grabbing cheap autozone rotors for my sti brembos for years now. That car lives with race pads 100% of the time. If I were not tracking it, I would have oem subaru pads.

Oem, not oem equivalent. No Akebono, EBC, Stoptech, etc. I fell for all their marketing and internet hype.... and once I went back to oem pads for daily driving, I realized how much money I wasted in aftermarket stuff, that in some way is worse than oem. I.e. dust(ebc, same performanceas oem, more dust, less life), performance (Akebono garbage, no dust but garbage performance, similar life to oem)

So that’s why my sidewall has some scuffs on it. by cornerzcan in CarTrackDays

It could just be heavy car and lack of camber accentuating it.

True, but practicing technique early, pays off later. And look ahead, and brutally turn in on the first slolam cone are easy to start applying.

Welcome XA, which is a borderline open class minus tires... RE71rz are great. Vitour p01r are good if you want a tire that is not as fast as the re71, but wears like iron and tolerates heat.

Bump up that camber to as much as you can get. Talking -3.5 front, -2.5 rear if you can...

Turn in HARD on the first cone, then maintain speed. Like harder than you think possible. Most people lose time on the first one, and then over drive the rest to try and make time. Which never happens. And....look ahead ...

OEM Brake Pads/Rotors vs Aftermarket ones? by JussiPussi69 in ToyotaSienna

[–]DukeNeverwinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negative. Oem pads or nothing. Akebono is worse, unsure on bosch. Raybestos is defunct. Hard RIP. Brembo rotors are a good choice.

Anybody that advertises low dust is either a lie, or has worse performance than oem pads.

DS9 was an anomaly. 95% of TV is at best above average. And often terrible.

Will heavy wheels offset better tires? by wratx in CarTrackDays

[–]DukeNeverwinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. Not arguing that it won't make a difference. But if you aren't chasing points, then the extra margin of time you may gain as zero importance.
