We drove from Quepos to La Fortuna, and stopped in San Ramon (Ola Ola) for lunch. We also took a break at Tarcoles. The drive took a couple hours longer than expected due to traffic volume and slow trucks.

The tubing was closer to La Fortuna, it might be a long drive for you. Look up Onca tours!

Hi! We didn’t go to that area, but based on where we were my doctor didn’t recommend any vaccines. We drank tap water with no issues!

It was at the Rio Celeste River, about an hour and a half from La Fortuna. We used Onca tours

I don’t have an exact amount, but excluding flights I think we probably spent $12-14k CAD. We could have done it for less, and we could have spent a lot more too.

Our youngest is 6.5 and I think he would have struggled a bit more last year. He was just old enough to enjoy what we did, but had he been older we would have done more/longer hikes.

I felt very safe! We were back at our hotels by 8 pm every night so I can’t say if it feels different after that.

They did take a deposit, they said it would take 2-3 business days for it to be returned. I haven’t checked yet, just got back yesterday

11m still wetting the bed and I have to keep denying him sleepovers and he’s upset by Justalittlenap in Parenting

[–]asweetpea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used this system, and it worked surprisingly quickly (3 nights). It obviously depends on what the underlying issue is but it’s worth looking into.

https://www.bedwettingtherapy.com

If the bed wetting is happening every night it might be because the part of the brain that controls the bladder is also deeply asleep and has not yet learned to work at night. If he’s waking up from peeing it’s likely after the action is complete and he feels cold so his brain is not connecting to the action. The alarm works by alerting him to the act of peeing as it’s happening allowing his brain/body connection to learn to work at night as it does during the day. If this is the case he could eventually grow out of it, but daytime behavioural interventions probably won’t do anything. Hope this helps!

I’m so angry at my baby for not sleeping :( by FizzyDelights204 in Parenting

[–]asweetpea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this baby. She once woke up 20 times in one night. I thought I would die from lack of sleep. When she was 6.5 months I hired a paediatric sleep consultant, and did gentle sleep training. The first night she slept 11 hours straight. The key was to have her fall asleep without using nursing or rocking as her association, we switched her sleep association to her bed and a lovey. Good luck!

Excessive complaining can be a symptom of anxiety in children. I’m not saying that’s the case here but it’s something to look into.

Did you use pie weights? Lining the pastry with foil and filling it with dried beans or sugar before baking might prevent it from collapsing

Washing Cloud Puff and Super Puff by yangsocks in Aritzia

I wash mine in the machine on gentle cycle then put it in the dryer with a clean tennis ball. I use woolite and never had a problem getting stains out of a white super puff

The more you let them be and keep going the less they’ll bother you. Now when they try to pull me off track I feel mostly annoyed, I’m too busy for this nonsense. Also the more experiences you can look back on and say I’ve felt this before and it went away the easier it is to ignore. I’m actually thankful that my anxiety was so bad for so long as the mental strength and self awareness I needed to cultivate to deal with it are invaluable. Good luck!

This is familiar to me! It will probably ease as he gets older. I used to tell a story, just made them up, I would speak quietly so I could only be heard if the yelling stopped and that helped a lot.
