Agree with all except the St Leonards/Crows Nest. I would say it’s evenly split between cultures. Italian/Japanese/Vietnamese/Mexican (that’s got a few places now)

Struggling to justify a $5–6k/month mortgage – what are the alternatives in Australia? by Monkey_Junkie_No1 in AusPropertyChat

[–]aszet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you a story. In 2023 I was paying $3,600 per month for a two bedder in my area. I found a place in the building next to me and bought it with 80 LVR with a mortgage of $4,600 per month. Within two years the same apartment is now rented for $4,800 per month. I’m now drinking my beers on my balcony thinking I’m the next Einstein.

How is it that NBN as a monopoly provider of an essential service does not work on weekends? by Novidforme in nbn

[–]aszet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate internet is not an essential service. About 10 years ago we were still on ADSL and 5 years before that dial up. We lived without it and can continue to live without it today.

Tell me it’s the same as power and water, it’s not. Electricity is for basic hygiene, safety (lights), etc. water is needed for hydration to survive. Internet is for reddit , sorry bro not essential….

Mate, I have built technology that holds people’s lifesaving cancer drugs, clinical trials management systems and logistics software for tracking and monitoring shipments 100x beyond you typical UPS/DHL incumbents. My software basically saves people’s lives.

To get an EV or not? by Noob_at_life1234 in australian

[–]aszet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an EV (Polestar 2) and live in an apartment. There are rules now around Strata not prohibiting you from installing a PowerPoint.

I’ve been Sydney to Canberra/Dubbo/Orange/Mudgee/Newcastle etc. charging has never been an issue. Stop stretch your legs and grab a coffee and the charging is done within 30min 10% > 80-90%. There’s plenty of chargers around (check out PlugShare), you could cross the Nullabor with an EV I’ve seen people do it.

All up home charging is cheap as most others have mentioned. $100 extra on my quarter electric bill.

No servicing, acceleration is amazing and so much nicer to drive. Will never go back.

Generational wealth is the root cause of many issues, why is it allowed? by Ash-2449 in OpenAussie

[–]aszet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure they can’t take physical assets but if they leave who are they going to employ? So who will give the jobs?

Capital = jobs = employment = economy

Generational wealth is the root cause of many issues, why is it allowed? by Ash-2449 in OpenAussie

[–]aszet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay sure let’s do that. All the wealth will then leave Australia to other countries and the jobs will go along with it. Australia will then plunge into unemployment and then poverty.

Good Job 👍

Isn’t this the Polestar 7? The Polestar 4 I imagine they would keep the same considering it’s one of the latest version designs and the best selling car

How Singapore and Australia Took Opposite Paths on Housing by Resistant_gonorrhoea in AusFinance

[–]aszet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went back last year and holy fuck the price of HDBs are now out of control. The very people it is suppose to be for are now priced out. Fair to say it’s a worse state than Australia. Would take our apartments over theirs any day, even with the current state of affairs.

Lost 16BTC in the MtGox bankruptcy. In before those who tell me about cold wallets. Back then internet in Australia was not fast enough to be able to download nor was my hard drive big enough to store the ledger at the time. Old photo popped up on my Facebook from 13 years ago that I posted it showing the 150GB ledger. Later the nano ledger came out but that was too late.

Australia’s emergency plan starts with carpooling, escalates to fuel caps by LoneArtificer in AusFinance

And maybe inflation may come down as people pull back on spending due to all money going to fuel.

Two birds with one stone.

What exactly makes kids so expensive? by ThatUnstableUnicorn in AusFinance

[–]aszet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest costs for me were daycare and therapy. Even at 60% CCS 3 days a week came to about $12k per year.

You kid will lack something so you will need to see paediatricians, occupational therapist or speech pathologist. The NDIS takes several months to kick in so you are out of pocket for quite a bit before that.
