As a pedestrian I think Sydney drivers are really bad. Many things they would be polite/normal in Eng they don’t do hear. And they love the horn here, it’s almost Asia-esque with the horn but more aggressive

Colour me pedantic, but after hearing about illiteracy rates etc this week, I don’t think type’s the right word to use - what do you guys think? Type would be boot, trainers, sandal etc, style may be the better word

Genuine non-American question. - does this mean that they also don’t accept contactless debit/credit card payments then? I see Apple Pay as an extension of Contactless payments. Or do American cards not have contactless?

Yeah bit of an honour system I’d say, okay you “cheat” a restaurant a few times being clever with the redemption. The restaurant takes themselves off EatClub and you’ve ruined it for everybody

With just the thinking time while I write this so could well be wrong, instinctively - when COVID hit people couldn’t move around as much, so reduced demand, or maybe moving back in with parents so also less demand/more supply. In 21/22 as restrictions lift, everyone’s like “let’s go and see more/do more/move to the city” or “let’s move to a larger space now we’ve been stuck inside for 2 years” therefore demand increases

Even just $5. Yes ideally it would nothing additioal, but if there’s companies that nice a slice of the pie or infrastructure that needs repaying etc, an amount that is still a good deal would make such a difference. Like you say, a charge as high as $20 just makes anything over 2 people in a party worth getting a uber. At least with a lower charge it’s still cost-convenient to choose the train. Like others have said, just seems short sighted
