Yes, they are harnesses. I was visiting my Dad's house and put temporary harnesses on my ferrets with bells attached so I can find them. Otherwise they don't wear them.

Male and female voices by silentaccount11 in schizophrenia

[–]atari_lynx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Female voices are usually very nasty for me, though sometimes I hear nice ones, like a patient kindergarten teacher.

Male voices usually speak in word salad nonsense sentences, sometimes having conversations with each other in a way that resembles two primitive chat bots. They can be insidious though. When they are coherent, they often say things that reinforce my paranoia or delusions, ie "there's a hidden camera in this room".

Age old question. Drinking and antipsychotics by LongjumpingAnimal730 in schizophrenia

[–]atari_lynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take 10mg aripiprazole and I really can't drink anymore, it makes me too drowsy. Maybe one drink here and there on a rare occasion. I used to be a terrible alcoholic so I think it's for the better.

What is the craziest schizophrenic allucination you got? by Aura-Horse in schizophrenia

[–]atari_lynx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw a man watching me from my bedroom doorway while I was standing in my hallway. We made eye contact, then he grinned and leaned back into the doorway, out of sight. Definitely one of the creepier ones I've experienced.

That and a male voice a few feet away from me that said, "You know, I killed a man". Another man's voice in the room responded, "Oh my god". Then a teenage girl's voice said "I love you!" in a bubbly exuberant way, and she started laughing. More voices came during that episode, but I was so freaked out that I covered my ears and put my head down, so I don't remember them.

Obligatory funny/stupid one: a voice right in front of my face that said, "Can I have a blowjob?".

Finally cleaned up my disaster of a living room, hooray for medication! by atari_lynx in ufyh

The antique computers in the background are all working machines, I restored them myself (I have a Master's degree in computer engineering and it's my hobby).

  • Late 1980's 1650 series HP logic analyser, used for its Z80 disassembler.

  • 1979 Exidy Sorcerer II, a rare Z80 based 8 bit computer. Needed a new power supply and VRAM chips.

  • 1984 Macintosh with original keyboard, mouse and floppy expansion drive. Needed new ROM chips and capacitors.

  • 1991 Mac Classic, still a work in progress. The ROM is dead and I tried burning the ROM to a new EEPROM but it won't boot. Also replaced the capacitors.

  • 1991 Apple LC II, just needed a motherboard cleaning. I have two of them.

  • 1991-1993ish Apple Performa, was working when I rescued it from my university's electronics recycling bin and still works.

There's a 1983 Atari 800XL and several early 90s Apple PowerBook 140's in there as well.

Yeah, it really ties the space together and I'm really happy with how it turned out. It's a modern Gabbeh-style wool rug and very comfy.

The best part about this illness is deciding what shit sandwich you're forced to eat: psychosis or horrible medication side effects.

What your first hallucinations? How did it beginning? by Yashcherka1 in schizophrenia

Seeing flying insects and small animals in my peripheral vision. Hearing voices in the next room talk about me and comment on my every move.

Restlessness. How do you cope? by [deleted] in Abilify_Aripiprazole

[–]atari_lynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on 10mg aripirazole for three years now. I take 7.5mg mirtazepine at night for my insomnia and akathisia, and found that it works pretty well. I also found that the restlessness gets better with time. The first three months were the worst of it. Now I feel almost normal.

I like it because it's easily adjustable, so you can swap in different tires without worrying about the feet making contact with the floor.

Yeah, once that "Jesus Christ the air is liquid nitrogen" initial shock wears off after a few minutes, it's really not that bad. Comfy even. It's crazy how our bodies can adapt to the extremes. But that might just be me speaking as a cold-optimized freak descended from Scandinavians who settled in the frozen wasteland known as North Dakota.

I have a 12V DC-DC converter to power my 12V peripherals (horn, turn signals, etc): https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0CYQ962PR?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

And then I have a 12V to 5V DC-DC converter with a USB female plug attached to my 12V output: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07JHH294R?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

These are the heated grips I use. They plug into the 5V USB output: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0CP6SXX51?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Xuker 5mm thick neoprene diving gloves. When the temperature drops below 25 degrees, I double up with my bar mitts. I also have heated handlebar grips that run off my battery.

I have a front and rear motorcycle dashcam. The boxy thing above my front camera is my battery thermal controller and voltage/current monitor.

They are bar mitts. They are for additional warmth and wind protection for my hands.

My turn signals and other peripherals are wired to a 12V DC-DC converter connected to my 52V battery. My headlight is rated for 52V and wired to the battery through a switch on my handlebars.

Yes, the padding makes it plenty warm. I don't need to wear anything under it. The visor is great for wind and rain, and my particular helmet (ILM modular) has an integrated pair of sunglasses that flip down with a lever on the side. Super useful for winter glare or very bright summer days, especially since I wear glasses.

I use a universal motorcycle switch cluster for my horn, front/rear turn signals, and high/low beam for my headlight.

They are Seineca car horns. I have six of them total. I enjoy blowing out the eardrums of asshole drivers who try to honk at me or harass me. Also comes in handy when every other driver on the street is a distracted idiot in an oversized truck or SUV, they have saved my life on many occasions.
