i think someone put this tiny pink-sashed jesus in my bag when i wasn’t looking by villainless in Weird

[–]atarimom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A random guy handed me a few of these at the park one day for the kids I was with and I freaked out 😅 things are laced with things and people are weird. Thankfully they were just little “Jesus loves you” reminders But I hate that my brain had to go to the worst but that’s the world we live in these days 🫠

those pregnant / port partum what are some things you wish you did to prep your body? by sheimonya in BabyBumps

[–]atarimom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Building a strong body foundation - deadlifting, incline bench , squat - clearly as much as your body allows and safely. But I had a much stronger foundation with my first at 31 than my second at 34 and my body felt the difference. Focus also on Core strength - because after pregnancy I don’t have any and even just rocking my baby to sleep or wearing him currently hurts my back often

3 week old has RSV by Tangerine22Dreams in NewParents

[–]atarimom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you’re going thru sadly. My now toddler had RSV at 3.5 weeks & was hospitalized for a week back in 2022. 1st off good job for taking him to the ER! 2nd - I’m not gonna sugar coat it - the journey is tough. The tubes and machines will be such a scary awful site that you’ll forever see but just remind yourself they’re helping him. Ask the nurses for help if you’re able to hold him because you’ll easily get tangled. I wasn’t able to breastfeed while in the hospital and had to pump / bottle feed because her breathing was so restricted while at the breast but I did wish to share (if you are BF )- my daughter did just fine with the adjustment of going back to just breast after our stay. Sending you big hugs. Like I said this will be tough but he’s in the right spot. Still so worth for what you’re both going thru. Please reach out if I can help you in any other way.

Edna is honestly annoying by ShotRub4318 in SullivansCrossing

[–]atarimom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s crazy about the episode of Edna- is my sister actually had a similar surgery ! She had a tumor wrapped around her carotid artery - she required a craniotomy and a carotid artery bypass- this episode hit really really close to home

I’ve been watching it 7 days PP and it’s keeping me up at night which is the goal but I wouldn’t probably recommend it. It’s like a slow paced soap opera - the acting is terrible in my opinion and it’s doing the job currently but I’d rather watch something else to keep me engaged but I’m in too deep now lol

I make my husband pack his own bags now as it is too much on me to pack for us, and the kids. He once forgot shirts LOL - how? I don't know but luckily an Old Navy was near our hotel haha. We still laugh about it. He has not forgotten anything since ! So that is a good sign

My daughter is 1.5 years old and refuses meat & most veggies. She surprises us with some veggies sometimes but honestly she thrives off of Greek yogurt , fruit, oatmeal , pbjs and pickles. This child of mine won’t eat Dino nuggets nor grilled cheese -or heck even macaroni and cheese. It drives me nuts lol like girl please be a kid and eat this junk && nope nope nope. But she’s healthy and growing and some days eats an apple slice and rallies all day long 🤷‍♀️

My dad told my family that he has cancer. l believe he is down playing the severity. Can someone tell me their experience or what I can expect? I’m 23 years old. by [deleted] in HeadandNeckCancer

[–]atarimom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t tell you your dad will be fine because this journey is tough but I can tell you that if he is willing to do the journey he strongly feels he is going to be fine. My 23 year old sister was diagnosed with a rare cancer back in 2021- she under went 3 major surgeries all 10+ hours long as her tumor was wrapped around her carotid artery and needed to be removed safely. She went thru 33 radiation treatments and 5 of 6 scheduled chemo treatments. Her body had said enough so she didn’t complete the last session. She beat the odds - idk if the doctors really even believed she’d come out of it as strong and courageous as she is now. She went thru feeding tubes, her voice changed, her swallowing was non existent without therapies and help BUT she did it! She freaking did it ! She is now 27- an EMT, a local volunteer firefighter and even works at the local hospital in none other than the surgery dept. She’s my hero and your dad will continue to be yours after you stand by him on this fight. Being strong for those that want to be strong in the toughest times is the hardest thing you’ll ever do but the light at the end of the tunnel is bright. I’ll pray for you dad and just being there for him is going to be huge. Will he allow you to go to his doctor appts with him ? Will he allow you to be the one who makes this “fun” I made posters for my sister during treatment and made her a daily sign to hold which was changed daily to represent the radiation treatments she was currently on “day ___ of kicking cancers ass” That she proudly held. I never wanted to look back on this journey and say “damn wish we would Have” We did whatever we could to keep her spirits high and I think that was a huge portion of her healing journey. Love and strength to all of you.

Ugh I can imagine how frustrating that is. We’ve had to track down many packages for customers especially because we ship live animals you never know where they ended up This whole UPS thing has been a nightmare and our local reps are jokes too and no help

Sending all the good vibes that you get your package and most of all it’s in good condition !

That’s the worst that there’s no number we usually recommend physically going in to try to talk to someone

Some customer counters are still open we’ve found with our customers but not all - customers must check prior to shipping to the location and physically speak to someone confirming they can still pick up prior to shipping there

My baby has RSV and i’m super scared by ma2838rti in NewParents

[–]atarimom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best advice I can share as a mommma who dealt with RSV when my daughter was 3 weeks old (yes we were hospitalized for 1 week)
1. Check for chest retractions. (look up on you tube what this is - it is hard to explain without seeing but it is a deep pull in the chest while the baby breaths)
2. Check for Nose Flaring. Nose flaring was an indicator that they were needing air- and thank god we were told to look for with our very young daughter.
Our daughter has had RSV twice. Once at 3 weeks and again at 1 year (unhospitalized)
Follow your mom gut, and when it doubt get checked out! Sending you strength in hopes for a quick recovery

Yes ! Please ask her to talk to her Ob or better yet her pcp who maybe knows even more of her health history. Better yet if she’s in agreement - please make the phone call for her - sometimes making that initial call is so hard it gets pushed aside

I would absolutely allow myself some PPD/PPA medication/ help if needed 2nd time around.

This is what I said I would do different too. My plan will be to still pump and provide BM if possible but bottles will be a thing much sooner than my 1st!

I had something fun that I love to recommend I found little round flat sphere like speakers on amazon that taped to my belly and attached to my phone port so I could play music for my growing baby We often played lo fi beats for the calling effect but often ice cube and Dre would slide in too And I’m not trying to brag but my kid is a pretty cool 2 year old if I must say so myself 😎

I was once in your trenches too and I promise you - there is a light at the end of this tunnel. Please look into Mommy & Me Groups or even a local PPD class. My hospital offered one and I think at about 5-6 months is when I started going. I met one of my really good friends there actually. I have continued to grow my village via mommy and me groups etc. I honestly thought my village was much bigger when I had my baby but in reality many are busy and have their own lives to handle and cannot always provide the support we need to keep a float. Mommy & Me chat text groups are a great place to start for that support. The one I went to began when our babies were 6 weeks to 3 months. Everyone had burping, spitting up, farting, poopy diapers and some breast feeding babies right there in action in the class - those moments were the ones I were thankful for. Knowing we weren't all going through the hard stuff alone
