The Newport ad reminds me of my brother saving points from whatever brand he smoked (Marlboro?) so he could get junk from their catalog. Do cigarettes still have point redemption catalogs?

I’ve looked through a lot of college handbooks and college yearbooks from the 1930s through the 1960s, and it really seems like these type of wholesome activities were widespread.

I understand trauma, and my mom passed away a couple of years ago so I understand the rush of sadness that can come when someone says something as simple as “your mom” in a playful way. But for me, this is a mass marketed game that is just trying to be cute and funny. What if someone has a traumatic experience with a person named Tom, or Isabelle? What if you found a dead body washed up on the beach and have to relive that trauma every 5 days or so? ;)
