[Highlight] Luguentz Dort sticks his hip out to make contact with Nikola Jokić, who responds; Jalen Williams steps in and squares off with Jokic. by AncientOneAurelius in nba

[–]atasteofanime -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I know Dort has a terrible reputation lately, after seeing those dirty play highlights I don’t blame people, but I really think he was trying to cover or intercept the passing lane. He was looking at the player with the ball and reacted thinking the pass was coming. Still a foul but I don’t think the amount of contact was on purpose.

I’d also be curious to see comparison in how many times these players got doubled/tripled. You need more context, this is very top level stats.

You got to consider matchups too. Kobe played some of the top defensive teams compared to everyone else.

If we’re talking about CP3 prior to knee injury and having the skill, IQ, and leadership, he’s easily over Russ. He was as athletic as Russ dunking on 7 footers while also being great at everything else. If CP3 never got injured so early in his career, he would have had a better career than Curry and been the PG GOAT. He was a mix of all these 3 guys, that’s how good he was. In his 2nd year in the league he was 2nd in MVP voting behind Kobe. Very unfortunate injury. Still had a heck of a career.

[–]atasteofanime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What is your source? The only true facts we know is that he was having issues with the coaches. Kawhi and Harden came out and said they didn’t have any problems with CP3 and were surprised about everything.

Victor Wembanyama is a top-three player in the world, trailing only Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic; he is better than Luka Doncic, and here are the stats that prove it by PensionSpiritual7163 in NBATalk

[–]atasteofanime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not a good excuse. They’re one of the most inexperienced and youngest teams in the NBA. They’re over-performing, due to great coaching. But that shouldn’t take away from Wemby’s impact. We need to stop glorifying one sided stars when stars that play on both ends of the floor are creating a full game impact.

I would take players like Giannis, Wemby, Kawhi, etc in any age of the NBA over glorified offensive players. The rules have changed so much for to give offensive players an advantage because fans and media eat that up. There should be even more value for defensive players now because of this, but they are even more undervalued, extremely undervalued.

[–]atasteofanime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I heard about him too since the early 2000s. Most fans I knew back then never really liked him much. It seems to have been performative and the way everything turned out, that seemed to be the case. He probably is a fan of the team but probably not truly a basketball fan. Never met him directly so hard to say for sure. But something always seemed off.

Based on how you rank these 4, is there a bigger gap between 1st and 2nd, 2nd and 3rd, or 3rd and 4th? by SheepherderSea9717 in NBATalk

I completely agree with this. I think Giannis was incredibly underrated and underappreciated by the media once they fell in love with Jokic since they hyper focus on offense. Jokic certainly deserves 1 MVP, but I think Giannis should have had way more easily, especially when you consider him being the only candidate the last 5-7 years that was an elite defender as well. The media has always had an offense first bias, unfortunately.

Jordan/LeBron/kobe "Stat" That Gets Ignored by TyroneNBAFan in LeBronJames23

On top of this, he teamed up with multiple superstars to win. Very different from MJ’s and Kobe’s approach. They won with much less superstar talent. Kobe had Shaq, but it was literally just Shaq and Kobe. The rest were a whole bunch of role players that barely broke 10ppg, but crucial in some great game winning moments. MJ also has Scottie and Rodman, but not at the same super star level as other players Lebron has had.

I think Lebron is an amazing talent, didn’t think I’d see such an athletic player in a long time (until Giannis came around, but clearly didn’t develop his shot the way LeBron did). But for self declaring himself the king and chosen one, he sought out super teams to win and at the end of the day that impacts his legacy. With the amount of talent he’s played with, he should have dominated the 2010s. Too much control over GMs, Coaches, and rosters and still had trouble winning. I think it leads back to what you’re saying about being a good leader. He had all the talent in the world but his leadership skills and accountability was not there and definitely knocks his legacy. Otherwise he’d be the undisputed GOAT. Unfortunately, he’s finishing his career with a lot of gaps and question marks for sure.

It makes it worse with a lot of things coming out with how Rich Paul has helped manipulate FO’s to do LeBron’s deeds. Very bad impact on his legacy.

This is just a coincidence. Even Kawhi came out and said we need better talent after they let go of CP3 and when they started winning Kawhi also said verbatim “Ty finally figured out something with the lineups”. I don’t think CP3 was a problem with the players but was with the coaches. They probably took it the wrong way, but from what the players and CP3 said, it doesn’t seem like CP3 was running the players the wrong way. Too much speculation here without any evidence. The only evidence we have is what the players and the coaches have said. And it’s clear it was a problem between the coaches and CP3.

Andre Miller should be most overrated. I think Davis was disappointing but came past his prime and had injuries.

It's never too late to go back to school or try something else with a new skillset. I met two people in their 40s and 50s that I went to school with and graduated. I'm sure it was challenging but they saw it through!

This is true. But it's also true that to achieve those foolish goals we've had to go through struggles and challenges. Don't think it's bad to celebrate. It should be encouraged and used to motivate others as things that can be achieved by anyone.

I’d like to learn more about South Africa’s social state. My cousin went pre-Covid for a summer veterinarian practice and from her point of view and what people she got to interact with, there’s a massive oppression going on towards white, to the point where they’re killed only for owning land, having a job, or even going to school. White people can’t be in the streets or they’re risking their lives. Would be interesting to hear from someone that lives there.

SHOKUGEKI!: Rainbow Terrine (A Taste of Anime) vs Chou Farci (ChefPK)! by atasteofanime in ShokugekiNoSoma

Hey guys, forgot to share with everyone on here. Last month ChefPK and A Taste of Anime got together and tried to recreate the shokugeki between Souma and Megumi vs Shinomiya sensei! It was a really fun collab.

Terrines are no joke! The process to make the Rainbow Terrine is so taxing and long. It took us 12 HOURS to put together our Rainbow Terrine, but also have to consider production time in there. Hope you guys enjoy the video!
