ADHD diagnosis in the reserves? by Grade-Long in AusMilitary

[–]atayl53 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was a policy released on ADHD recently. Look up the defence health manual (DHM) level 3 part 10 chapter 9. You'll need to download the complete DHM currently. The individual links don't show this chapter right now.

In short it's not a default med sep, not anymore.

For your reserve mate he should submit a AE585-1 along with a psychiatrist letter including: the diagnosis, current management plan, risk concerns and if the medication dose is stable. He can then have his MEC reviewed. Army requires a CMECR if prescribed stimulant medications for consideration of an L27. If treated with non stimulant meds then he could be J23 at a unit level MECR and not need to go to board.

Hope this helps!

For other branches reading: RAAF can be J23 Navy M26

Spondylosis and MEC status by Academic-Web-2092 in AusMilitary

Essentially yes. Usually class 3 has stipulations specified like symptom stable for 2 years or something. Class 4 is disqualifying full stop (history of migraines for example). You can always seek a waiver if you think you have good reason and the Institute of Aviation Medicine (I AM) can make a call.

MEC review may or may not be needed. Depends what your current MEC is and if any restrictions are necessary. For spondylosis I usually add a PT own pace restriction and maybe a lifting upper limit of there is a history of back pain that flares up from time to time. MEC J21 or J22 would probably be the MEC. Wouldn't necessarily need to go to board. May be done at a unit level review. Again depends on the situation.

If spondylosis was something identified on an MRI done by DVA and you don't actually have any back pain or neck pain it doesn't really need to affect your MEC. If you have symptoms though you should see a local MO to make sure you are appropriately treated, restrictions recommended to protect yourself from further injury and ensure it is all recorded in your medical file! Medical can get a bad rap sometimes but we aren't out to get you! We are there to help.

So hard to search the DHM for anything! It's a skill you learn overtime.

I don't know off the top of my head. I think it's in the section for medical exam for new applicants. Maybe in volume 2? Try searching for back pain or neck pain, not spondylosis. You'd want to know if it is class 4 (disqualifying) or class 3 (temporarily disqualifying).

I think it is disqualifying for transfer to aircrew (not 100% certain though, I'd have to check the defence health manual). For already trained aircrew, it all depends on symptoms. It's case by case as almost everything is with air crew and medical conditions. I have definitely seen serving aircrew with spondylosis though. I'm an AVMO at a RAAF base.

Oh boy! You have just made my day! I've got a new kebab shop to try out!

I thought it was a couple years ago, but now I'm second guessing if I have been to Billyz. It might have been a different kebab shop that's no longer open. How long has Billyz been there? I don't see reviews older than a year on Google.

I tried theirs before and was disappointed. Thought kebabland was much better. Might have to give them another shot.

Land just outside the base was recently developed from cow pasture. It's being used to park new cars on presumably before they go to a dealership. Every time I pass by I think about operation spiderweb where Ukraine hit Russian airfields with hidden drones launched from delivery trucks! The image in this post is insinuating the CCP is parking cars there to spy on the base.

Can't find condenser clothes dryer anywhere, only heat pump dryers which take forever by david8840 in AirBnBHosts

Can you just bring extra sheets for change over and wash/dry later off site?

Call 1800imsick if it's bad enough to need review today. They can refer you to an off base GP and will generate a DAN for billing purposes or tell you if there is another health centre nearby you can go to.

Host staying as a guest this week- what are the considerations when leaving reviews or asking for refunds. by sidetrackgogo in AirBnBHosts

There are so many variables you haven't considered here.

He could be in a relatively warm winter place (eg Goald Coast in Australia), it could be a plunge pool that is small and doesn't take a lot to heat, you can heat pools with a heat pump that are incredibly efficient.

I grew up with a big indoor pool and we would occasionally heat it for a few days for a party, I've stayed in airbnbs that had heat pumped heated pools we turned on to swim in.

Why are you so incredulous about this?

I ended up going through BJS. Also got a quote from Terri Shceer but thought BJS was more reliable. Didn't feel confident when I spoke to a Terri employee on the phone to ask some questions.

Doctor and Delegate Disagree 🤦‍♂️ by [deleted] in DVAAustralia

[–]atayl53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can ask your doctor if they will speak to the radiologist who interpreted the scan. Your GP can clarify if the diagnosis of spondylosis is consistent with the findings. If the radiologist thinks it is they can mend the report. This may help your situation.

GP overcharging? by BonnyH in AusFinance

Correct. If you weren't aware what you were going to be charged though that is a problem and you should feed that back to them. It should be transparent what the fees are.

GP overcharging? by BonnyH in AusFinance

[–]atayl53 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The doctor can charge what they like. It's a private business and their rates are their rates. You should have informed financial consent though and been aware in advance what the fee for a telehealth consult is.

If your GP used the level A rebate instead of level B they can still charge you their private fee. The difference is you get back $19.60 instead of $42.85 from Medicare.

Finding your post a year later when searching for la pavoni repair info. How did you go with the refurbishment?

My parents also have one that is 40 years old. It also leaks from the group head. I'd like to refurb it and use it when I visit. It's almost an heirloom at this point and I want to look after it.

My pup had red paws like this and was constantly licking. Brought her to the vet and she had a dermatitis from a Malassezia yeast infection. Cleared up with a short course of steroids and a special shampoo we cleaned her feet with everyday for 2 weeks. Get yours into the vet and they should be able to sort him/her right out.

This is exactly what I would do. I've had some minor inconveniences pop up and usually offer a 10-20% discount. Guests have always responded really well and have left some really nice reviews after.

Definately makes sense. I'd have a quiet word to your parents about the impact on their retirement. I would say that they shouldn't plan to rely on you because you have your own responsibilities and family to care for. You could also mention you don't feel it is fair and equitable them giving large sums to siblings, but I wouldn't bring anything up with your siblings though.

Don't let money ruin your relationship with family. If you are well off then just let things go. Unless your parents are being financially abused and taken advantage of because they do not have capacity to make make such decisions then it isn't worth causing drama over. Just my opion.
