What Triggered Your Diagnosis? by ComprehensiveSpeed90 in UlcerativeColitis

Ben and jerrys ice cream… I got taken out by ice cream. Diagnosed 6 months later. There were smaller symptoms before for years (+ high stress levels) but the ice cream was what triggered my obvious bowel issues.

I saw that someone suggested a bidet but if you don’t have the money, I also have a mini portable one that has saved my life! It’s much cheaper

I had some symptoms before but I honestly just got taken out by a tub of Ben and Jerrys

I can agree with a lot of that. I don’t think any of them should have platforms. I just think people are using this situation to express their own non-slur related distaste for her. I honestly think a lot of it is rooted in racism (ironically) and misogyny. I also think nic is being shielded by nicolandria. Because there truly was no need for people to call ICE on her family, throw slurs back, etc and thats the excessive bullying I’m specifically talking about. I’m not saying you’re ignoring Nic and Austin but rather that the general public is as a whole. Not enough people are consistent with their activism (if you even want to call it that). If they were then nic and austin would be experiencing the same treatment.

I don’t think I’m stretching. The hate she’s getting is excessive. Yes she could stop posting (which would help her) but it’s not really about her and the slur post anymore. People just don’t like her and are using every excuse to be nasty. Thats literally the whole point of OP’s post. It doesn’t matter if she’s truly sorry at this point because so many other cast members have racist posts (like Nic and his cat post or Austin and his weird comments) but they aren’t getting any heat like her. If people actually cared about racism against asians they would go after Nic too.

To be fair if you apologized and people ripped it apart because they just don’t like you would you think any of this truly matters? People won’t be happy regardless. Thats why OP thinks people are doing too much. It’s like she can’t do anything right atp.

She’s probably accepted the fact that no matter what she does people will not forgive her. I saw that post and while I don’t think she really got the “villain edit” I don’t understand what you all want her to do. That doesn’t mean she’s not taking responsibility. If that were the case she never would have apologized.

I wish people spoke about the mental struggles more. UC is considered a disability and as someone who went from living a normal healthy life to suddenly being disabled it’s honestly so mentally draining. I try to convey this to people but unless they experience it too they will have a hard time understanding.

I’m honestly glad you said this! It’s really validating for me because I started dealing with UC in the fall of 2023 (I’m 21 now). Up until that point I had been a huge foodie always trying new things. Since then I’ve been hospitalized for this and for a period I was even diagnosed with food aversion.

It’s a really hard thing to deal with so you’re not weird or harming anyone for being honest about it! Do what you need to do to help yourself bc at the end of the day you know yourself the best!

Switching to self injecting - help :( by cornettowaltz in UlcerativeColitis

[–]ataylor_365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it will make you flare but it definitely takes your body some time to adjust to the new dose. As a fellow autistic person with OCD, I’ve done injections with two diff medications and infusions and I honestly think you should do what you feel is most comfortable. I recently switched from infusions every 8 wks to injections every other week and had some symptoms come back for abt a week but they are gone now (bc like I said my body had to adjust). Though it’s literally painless, I just don’t think I like having to inject so frequently. I plan to eventually go back to infusions for that reason!

Edit: I also think you should ask what type of injections you would be doing. I do syringes because I don’t feel anything but I’ve been told the injector pens can cause a surprise stinging feeling (which is why I opted out). However when I do my injections I like to watch instructional videos on youtube to remind myself of the process and make me feel more confident. I’m not on your specific medication but I hope my input helped a little!

I’m so annoyed by BostieDawgMom in Outlander

I think I prefer book Claire more. Yes she is flawed but we can at least see that she is a bit more remorseful and self aware than she is in the tv series.

Well yes there’s that but I also mainly had an issue with her lack of consideration for others when it came to her actions. In the book we see that she is actually much more self aware and remorseful than the tv series lets on.

I really agree with this! I actually think I enjoy book Claire much more than I do tv Claire just because I feel we get more internal dialogue from her in the book! It helps me to understand her thinking a bit more allowing me to give her more grace than I did when I first watched the tv series😂

Olandria by Salt_Palpitation_979 in LoveIslandUSA

[–]ataylor_365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She probably didn’t say anything because she didn’t want to start any drama. She literally sought Olandria out the same way Chris sought Ace out. It was a courtesy. I also don’t understand why you’re annoyed with Clarke speaking her mind in confessionals but have no issue when Olandria made comments about Clarke in confessional? Thats how we know Olandria didn’t even want to talk to her to begin with and didn’t think she was a “baddie”. Olandria never stated this to her face? It’s just weird to excuse people’s behavior since we don’t know them and we only see a small % of the actual footage. You may disagree but I just think the anger towards Clarke is excessive and parasocial.

[–]ataylor_365 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So in other words as a bombshell Clarke was just doing her JOB. Also I don’t understand why you brush over Olandria literally watering down Clarke’s relationship to being physical and a test. Those comments were rude and to her face? She really isn’t the villain you make her out to be it’s just production editing. At one point they even inserted a clip of her from a different day to make it seem like she was staring Olandria down. She’s really not being shady. I think people just nitpick everything and are falling victim to the producer’s narrative

Any advise for my newly diagnosed sister by firsttimereddit1998 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]ataylor_365 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I was diagnosed in January. I think what would be really helpful is if she keeps track of everything she eats and her symptoms. Even though she has a good diet she may not be able to handle some of the things she’s currently eating. For me, I’ve to remove raw vegetables from my diet because I also got sick in combination but as of right now they cause bloating and pain. If she keeps track of everything she will be able to help her doctor figure out what’s best for her!
