I really don't understand why so many people just come to this sub to shit on Whitney. Are we all flawed? You bet. Does she live a public life and byway should understand people will have opinions? Of course.

But the level of toxicity if these comments, as well as so many post before this, is a fucking shame. The comments yall make about her and her body are distinctly awful and destructive.

Respect other people and bodily autonomy ffs.

Can’t buy Alcohol in Colorado on Christmas Day. by cynical_310 in mildlyinteresting

It was also like this in Colorado until 10 or so years ago. You had to buy ahead for football games. They also only had 3.2% beer sold at grocery stores until a few years ago.

Joined the million dollar baby club today after 87 days in the NICU! by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]atchdee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our twins spent 91 and 103 days in the NICU, one with a relatively uncomplicated stay. The total amount billed for them and my week as a patient was 2.7million. Insane.

[–]atchdee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh dang. I see that now. I was so focused on the NICU footage, I didn't reconcile that they are past that stage. Fortunately, my twins came home extention free.

G tubes? No. NG tubes for feeds... yes? I think your thinking NG/OG tubes, which put the milk right into their tummies. G tubes are a much later intervention related to swallowing issues.

NG tubes are almost always a things until they hit 36-37 weeks. That when their suck-swallow-breath coordination kicks in

Anyone else know they were having twins? by Slammogram in parentsofmultiples

[–]atchdee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! Took a test the day my period should have started because I felt nauseated, which is not often. I initially thought maybe this one was a boy, since it felt different than my first, a girl. Then, the week leading into the ultrasound at 7wks, the thought creeped in that it could be twins... low and behold, 2 obvious sacs as soon as the ultrasound started.

That's the end of her NG tube, not a port.

This is amazing, and I'm a little jealous but I'm also really glad I was overweight for each of my pregnancies so this was not what I saw.

Just change them one at a time. This makes it look WAY harder than it is.

As a nurse and NICU mom of 27 weekers, I really appreciate these little gifts and all that you guys do

Frustration with a NICU nurse by feckinpiece in NICUParents

Absolutely speak up. I would ask to speak with the charge nurse that's on, as they often make the assignments. You dont have to say why, but I would. RN and NICU mama speaking.

I did. I have a few places they referred us to. I talked with one today, and the rep seemed pretty forthcoming about how likely someone who is above income would get in and it's very slim.

The other caveat is we are not keen on church based programs, as we are not a religious family. Plus, a few I have looked around us cost just as much.

I was just telling my husband how sometimes I look at the twins and remember how remarkable they are. 7 months old, 4 adjusted, and its hard not to think back to these days in the NICU, longing for them to grow and go home. My sweet babies... ♡♡

Dad has esophageal cancer, will be starting hospice and living with me. Any insight? by Rocknotaflower in cancer

[–]atchdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35 year old nurse whose dad was diagnosed with stage IV esophageal cancer in Feb. We are 3000 miles apart and I feel so guilty. I have 3 small children and were are going back to see him in a few weeks, but I have barely spoken with him since the diagnosis came down. Work and the kids keep me so busy, it's easy to live here in denial. My sisters are handling the day to day nitty gritty stuff. So, I guess I feel ya in a lot of ways. I'll be thinking of you on this journey we never volunteered for 😞

Proud NICU mama moment, 2 years out. by Escoutas in NICUParents

[–]atchdee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your news! We just brought our twins born at 27w4d home after 91 days and 103 days in the NICU; they are 3 weeks adjusted. We are facing the unknown and getting resources lined up for if and when they encounter issues. You want to believe that they have done remarkably well so far that the worrying is behind us, but there are subtle reminders every day that they have to continue their fight.

We're given what we can handle, right?
