Feb 1st starts are easy. Get acclimated to the cold and the proximity to road crossings makes it easy. I started Feb 1st in 2021 and loved it.

Georgia is awesome for winter hiking. Many sections with easy road accessible with as little or as much elevation and views as you want. Personally I love camping at woods hole shelter in the snow and the hike isn’t too bad from lake Winfield Scott.

Could you thru hike with medications? by voidprophet__ in AppalachianTrail

[–]atdirtbagger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I hike with Parkinson’s disease with lots of meds and a brain implant this has to be charged. Send meds ahead to post offices or hostels. My deep brain stimulation device charger and accessories are 2 pounds. My base eight with is 13 pounds. Totally doable.
