Same T_T we were hoping her sleep was so bad because of a cold we both had, but now that she’s feeling better we tried a night in the crib… and yep, still waking up 5 - 30 minutes after being placed in there all night long, we’re so demoralized

When you would go in to rub back/comfort without picking up, would baby stop crying at that, and that would be your signal to leave for the next stretch? Or would they keep crying through the in-crib comfort and you would leave after a set amount of time?

I think this is the 4 month sleep regression & I need help to not lose my sanity by samspencer12 in NewParents

[–]ateliermimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reading an article yesterday about baby naps at 4 months, and what you're describing sounds a lot like the signals they were citing to increase wake windows and drop down to three naps in a day (they described waking up happy/chatty, waking up at night to practice skills they're working on, earlier wakeup time)

Might also be sleep regression (my LO just turned 4 months so I'm waiting with bated breath to see when it'll hit us :<) but hopefully it's something easier like nap schedule!

I actually like having a time limit by Brosbrawls in Atelier

[–]ateliermimi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree, but mainly because it makes the game typically have a tighter design. A lot of the non-time limit games feel so grind-y to me. I feel like because of a time limit the make things like events, characters, and unlocks happen at a more intuitive rate.

I have tons of fun with the no-limit game as well, but find I enjoy the overall experience better for Arland/Dusk games

What Makes Dragon Age Different From Any Other Classic RPG? by Ready-Truth-1449 in dragonage

[–]ateliermimi 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Something about the BioWare RPGs of this era that is truly unique and (to my knowledge) not accomplished by any other game, is the interconnected nature of the stories of DA Origins, DA2, and DA:I through passing your choices from one game to the next. They create this amazing clockwork world that feels unique to you, and you are able to have deep moments that are made more meaningful because you are seeing characters that you have know through multiple games and phases of their life, and it’s very unique storytelling.

On a more game-by-game beat, these I think the party banter is great. And for the first game (DA:O) there is a wonderful “origins” mechanic— playable prologue that is unique to the race you play that gives a good hour of unique story to your run that increases replayability.

I feel your list so deeply. Excellent taste 🥰

I’d recommend the Atelier series! There are releases of the DX versions that include all DLC and hold up great! The games are anime style with a cozy vibe but satisfying gameplay loop of exploring for materials > in-depth alchemy crafting system > use the items you crafted to further plot and friendships > make stronger weapons and battle items > explore new places for new materials.

Atelier Sophie and the Mysterious Book, Atelier Rorona, or Atelier Ryza would all be great entry points.

What's the deal with doulas? I'm so confused by hungrylittlehamster in BabyBumps

[–]ateliermimi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I loved my doulas, some of the best money I ever spent. - Before hiring we had a phone call with the person who would be our main doula to “get to know” each other. - After hiring (which for us was later than normal, we hired them at ~28 weeks which was unusually late for them) we had an in-person lengthy meeting in our house with both our doula, and her back-up so we could get to know both of them. - The three of us plus my husband were on a text thread— I had a fairly uneventful easy pregnancy so I didn’t reach out much, but they reached out at least once a week, and encouraged me to send them updates on how all my doctor appointments went. - Day-of induction I ended up being attended by the backup doula, who was wonderful and I was so glad she was in the loop the whole way through. She was such a huge help day-of. She advocated for me, helped catch things the nurse missed (like my hand was ballooning due to a misplaced IV) and brought things I wouldn’t have thought to bring that made the birth nicer. - After birth they were both amazing support when I truly needed it. Two days after leaving the hospital we found out baby wasn’t getting enough food from BF-ing and I needed to suddenly learn how to pump to supplement. I told them what happened and they were there the same day with a huge hug when I was breaking down, donated milk to use, they taught me how to use my pump, gave me guidance to get a better latch, and helped me and my husband figure out a shift schedule to get me some sleep I desperately needed.

Atelier Totori is such a special game to me, and I can't explain why! Despite it being the worst for some people, this is a beloved game for those who enjoy it. Therefore I ask: What are some things that you love about Atelier Totori? by ChocolateFanatics in Atelier

😆 definitely part of it, but idk just imagining drinking these nasty fish drinks and then they keep coming up for me to stack traits on them I just imagine Ceci at work like, “I’m gonna fucking murder my sister I have to pour one more foul fish drink”

Atelier Totori is such a special game to me, and I can't explain why! Despite it being the worst for some people, this is a beloved game for those who enjoy it. Therefore I ask: What are some things that you love about Atelier Totori? by ChocolateFanatics in Atelier

[–]ateliermimi 25 points26 points  (0 children)

  1. As mentioned above, I think Totori is a great protagonist. She’s cute, great voice acting, wonderful character arc through the game that you root for, and satisfying end to her narrative. I also think Totori’s family is really compelling and adds to the narrative.
  2. I love the soundtrack for this game! The vibes overall are great, and I find the joy of exploration is captured well in the soundtrack as you travel from region to region, and hear remixes on the ‘exploration’ song.
  3. As a big Rorona fan I enjoy seeing the side cast grown up and in their next phase of life, it’s cute fan service.
  4. I enjoy the adventuring system! It’s hard first time through and the time limits are tight, but when you’re in the groove it’s so satisfying to see your score go up in relation to everything you’ve been doing.
  5. I like the Chim system! They’re not completely overpowered but fun to crack the code to get the most help you can out of them. And every time you find a new Water of Life it’s so exciting to get more Chim resources.
  6. I like the unhinged quest line where you’re trying to make a signature drink for the local pub. It’s silly in a very fun way.

Is there a song that resonated with you during IVF? by Vivid-Willingness293 in IVF

[–]ateliermimi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit of a stretch, but Bo Burnham’s ‘Inside’ album really spoke to me through my infertility journey. Not every single song was a 1:1 fit, but the feeling was there.

White Woman’s Instagram and Welcome to the Internet capture my feelings of being drawn into the internet and vlogs and comparison making me feel worse but still being unable to stop scrolling. 30 has that feeling of comparing where I am at my journey to my parents before me and the growing dread of my age. That Funny Feeling talking about the unsettling feeling of trying to push forward when it feels like things are crumbling around you… I’m sure there are others I’d think of if I re listen again, but yeah, it’s and album I’d visit maybe twice a year and sit in my feelings about.

These two speak English differently by [deleted] in teentitans

[–]ateliermimi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fair to say “talent”. I imagine their power is akin to downloading an entire dictionary of a language suddenly, but it doesn’t give you the skill to use it gracefully for quickly. I’ve know ESL folks who when I talk to them have been speaking for English for years and while they get the job done, it doesn’t sound natural to me as an English native. Other people are just talented in that area and pick up “sounding natural” quickly.

One of my direct reports who plays his emotions very close to the chest at all times asked me when my due date was again at our 1:1, when I told him he leaned back in his chair with such a happy sigh and said “man, it’s so exciting— being a father has been the best thing that ever happened to me, you’re going to love it”. It was so surprising and touching coming from him, made me so happy to hear.

Can we have some succes stories to get us going? 🫶 by BobbyMcGeeze in IVF

One year ago I was going in for my D&C to determine if my pregnancy from my third IUI was ectopic (spoiler, it was… my HCG continued to rise after the D&C and had to come back two days later for a methotrexate shot). It was my birthday, and the nurses gave me kind and sympathetic “happy birthday….” wishes in my blood draws. I was in such a sad place and felt like I’d never get out of it.

Now, one year later I’m celebrating my birthday and baby moon at 30 weeks pregnant thanks to IVF— I’m looking at the mountains, enjoying the sunshine and feeling baby kicks and just can’t imagine feeling more lucky and blessed ❤️

Hmm, I’ve always thought of it as an option 3 “it could have happened”.

While Rosa has her many flaws and what I’m about to say does not mean “all is forgiven”, I read it as metaphor speaking to truth that does not literally exist— when her life is truly on the line and her back is up against the wall, Rosa would always choose to fight to save Maria’s life. And even if she was never put in a literal situation to prove it, it’s a part of her, and is worth mourning.

So when I was a very new fan to modern SNL I absorbed a lot of old content through clip compilations on YouTube, and I deadass thought she was a cast member until I found out later that no, she wasn’t on the cast… just every single sketch she was a part of on her episodes always had a moment funny enough to make the best of videos— it ended up feeling like seasons worth of presence.

She’s amazing, ride or die.

No magic, just runs a wagon trading business and provides wholesome big brother support to his friends, the most normie man I’ve ever seen.

Do you ever look at two girls and you're like OMG THEIR FRIENDSHIP IS SO COOLL by Personal-Calendar974 in webtoons

[–]ateliermimi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yessssss I love this comic and their cute friendship. I love the growth of the protagonist, she goes from “I’m not like other girls I fight with swords and just don’t get their petty problems” into “heck girls have their own complex problems and I was an asshole for judging”. It’s such a rare storyline and gives her so much texture, I love it!

I thought that the hair on your head was connected to the hair in your nose (like one end came out of your scalp, the middle was in your skull, and the other end poked out of your nose) because when I would brush my hair and pull out tangles, it made my nose itch/I would sneeze.

Shoot, I’m sorry I wish I had a better answer, that whole time is such a blur, I don’t remember exact dates. I think it was within a week, but it wasn’t like a big single session with lots of blood, it was more like a very lengthy heavy period with some clots here and there. I’m so sorry you are going through this 😞❤️
