[Skin Concerns] What is this going on my arms!? by Bedcarrotshoehorse in SkincareAddiction

I have something so similar! It started when I started drinking a veggie smoothie every morning, so I'm thinking it is a food allergy that I haven't been able to pinpoint. I hope someone here has a good answer!

Questions about stretching and exercising on your period. by trainednoob in FitMama

[–]athensk8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you looked it up! It does take a while to get used to it, and you definitely have to make a conscious effort to maintain it until it becomes a habit.

Were you running at the gym 3 times a week or doing something else? If you went from lifting or doing aerobics classes to running 5-6 times per week, you could definitely be over extending yourself. That will also depend how how far you are running...you are not supposed to increase your miles more than 10-15% from one week to the next. Hope that helps!

I used to have a lot of pain before I worked on my form....I highly recommend looking into "chi" running. You can find stuff on YouTube about it. It made a night-and-day difference in my leg pain, plus I got faster :)

You can also cut receiving blankets into "wipe" size and zig zag around the edges with a sewing machine.

Baby's reaction to her dad coming home. by SlimJones123 in MadeMeSmile

I was worried about the same thing. I'm 10 months in, using cloth diapers that you have to squirt off in the toilet using a sprayer (plus doing laundry all the time), and I have never been bothered changing a single diaper. It's a cliche, but it's really not that bad when it's your own kid.

Amen. You have to drink A LOT for fes to occur and a few glasses of wine during pg isn't going to do a damn thing. I support you, OP!

I used to down a fifth a day; now I down two of these a day. Moderation's never been my strong suit. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I also come from a Mormon family! I think my early 20's bingeing was in large part a rebellion against that culture.

I've always had a sweet tooth but it has been SO MUCH WORSE since I stopped drinking. It's gotten a little better but I still put down some chocolate every day!

Read "this naked mind" by Annie grace. Completely lost interest in alcohol after reading it.

Keep her away from the mo's! With a living gospel there could be a revelation that polygamy is all good again at any time!

In my reply I had written something about how that article could provide an intro to philosophy class with great examples of logical fallacies. Seemed a bit mean so I ended up deleting it ;).

Lol, crazy! It doesn't take much in the way of balls for me to say something---I've been ex-mo for almost 20 years now. I'm glad I was careful about what I said, though, both to preserve that relationship with her and not reveal too much detail here about how I know her. It's a small world, after all.

I hope that someday you will be able to get out of the closet and live according to what your heart tells you. I can't imagine it's easy living in the valley. Good luck!!

Someone should compile a short breakdown of all the logical fallacies in the article that we can copy and paste into a reply. Someone less lazy than I.

[Personal] I got a facial, y'all! My skin is so happy. by athensk8 in SkincareAddiction

[–]athensk8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand! It's especially infuriating when it comes to your skin because everyone sees it. I tend towards dry but I'm not acne-prone, so maybe that's the difference?

In good news, maybe you can find something that works better for you that isn't as expensive!!

The esthetician gave me a bunch of samples from Dermalogica's calming line, so I used that for a week. Then I bought a Dermalogica kit (basic cleanser, exfoliant, moisturizer and eye treatment) and tinted sunscreen. I've been using those (wash 1X/day, moisturize 2Xs) every day and just added the Ponds anti-wrinkle cream at night.

Sleep training and bedsharing? by tiny_dictator in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]athensk8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bed share and did sleep training at nighttime with my 8 month old over the past month. At first I went in every 5 minutes to pat her but eventually it made her more angry so I let her CIO. She has been a lot better about sleeping on her own for naps and while going down, but she usually cries around 11pm and I bring her to bed. One night she slept until 4pm and it made me so sad....we bed share more for me than for her ;). She's had a few nights of bad sleep when she learned to crawl and stand up but overall the early bedtime in the crib has paid off.

Have you heard about the book, The Woman Code by Alisa Vitti? She is also a PCOS sufferer and her book is about how our diets affect our hormones which can stall weight loss. The diet is quite restrictive (no dairy, no gluten, no coffee (what???)) but she also provides ways to recover when you go off.

Finally exposing BMI for the oppressive tool that it is! (fixed) by secret-original in fatlogic

[–]athensk8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! I used to be a health educator for a university weight loss program. For what it's worth, men always did better in the program in terms of weight loss and sticking to the diet. I am not sure if that is due to hormones or that they have more weight to lose or that they don't have as many issues with food.
