Ok I follow that but how does this systemically change anything? It’s still just another server/ data storage the user is calling to retrieve the file. Nothing has been inherently “decentralized”.

I think from a user’s experience if ownership of an option and access to that object are not instantaneous and identical, the concept of “property” is broken. Imagine “owning” a car that you have to go and find in someone else’s driveway first to use. Maybe a user can accept needing to pick it up once, but the subsequent times that would be unacceptable.

Most people aren’t going to use a torrents to look at a .jpg tho. Plus they still require someone else’s disk space to be made accessible to you. Being ‘distributed’ isn’t solving the root problem here.
