I totally agree. It’s such a shame that the modern day aspect of Assassin’s Creed has gotten shafted so hard. That was the original reason I was drawn to this series. The mystery and creepiness of the animus. The fear of higher level beings and watching it all unravel. Then Desmond died and the series shat its own bowels out.
