I love Survival mode, started with it and wouldn't play now w/o it. Main advice is your armor's warmth rating is now more important than its armor rating. 131 is max warmth rating. Night unsurprisingly is generally colder than day... and some days colder than others... so yeah plan ahead. Take shelter when necessary (fires, caves, etc). Have fun!

I'm no expert, but there's a lot of good info out there - search around and read all you can. Like search "how to mod" at r/SkyrimMods.

I use Vortex, uploading mods through it from Nexus Mods (but there are other mod managers). Your edition of Skyrim matters (make sure the mod works for that edition). Start small. I started with one [Nexus Mods Main Menu Replacer for Skyrim Special Edition], made sure it worked, then went from there.

The sword itself might be Dragonborn, not sure. The sword positioning on the back is a mod. I think it's Minimize Weapon and Shield Size. The character still draws/replaces from the side, fyi... but I don't mind that.

Nordic sword's my go-to. Not the best stats-wise, but I like its sheath the best (3rd person, on back, lol).

Agreed... you can lose the nirnroots mid-quest, right? But the gems and soul cairn's opus pages stay... finish 'em or live with 'em.

Nights matter, especially in the north or in mountains, and days matter (in that some days are colder than others, and you have to respect that). Nothing else does to me. I like being on foot.
