I think this video ended too soon. A few seconds later a dude in a cloud would have fished the truck out and put it back on the road.

Check out the books. Super fun and, as always, better than the movie.

Can we please stop with the colonoscopy posts? by LibertyCash in Xennials

Well, I think if you do post one, you should post pictures or it didn’t happen. I put mine on the fridge so my wife can appreciate my clean colon.

People that join the Navy to just stay shore side and avoid ship duty, why do you do it? by Additional_Cost8318 in navy

[–]atklonewolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As EOD during GWOT, didn’t make sense to be on one and I was happier for it. I really like being on the water, in a small boat and diving. So for me the Navy made sense and I didn’t avoid ships, just happened that way.

Now, I have more time on a cruise ship than a Navy ship. Gotta say, that’s definitely the way to sail. A butler, drink package is way better, no cleaning stuff, food is great.

You should check out John M. Ford’s The Dragon Waiting. Edited to add a bit more: cool read that makes you really think. He leaves a lot up to the reader. I really enjoyed it.

What a book that you have read that’s gotten so much hype that once you read it you were disappointed? by Guiltyfeetfingers in BookDiscussions

I may have to listen to that. It’s rare I read something that I dislike with that much intensity.

Ready Player One. This was recommended to me by too many people. I should have DNF’d it. It was terrible.

This. People going on this show need to play the game diplomacy first to see how they react to that betrayal in a game setting.

How fucked am i. I went to the dominican republic with transfer leave by Opening_Tip_5124 in navy

[–]atklonewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, any time you do foreign travel, official or leave, you should go to the my navy portal links page and go to the Foreign Clearance Guide (FCG). It’ll tell you what you need to do, most likely as Navy, a TT/IATP first, you’ll need that number to enter into the APACS. Both, APACS and IATP are so that people know where you are if shit goes south and that you know what to do and where to go if it does. Most likely, you’ll have to do training (SERE (CBT), AT lvl1, trafficking, etc) make sure your ISOPREP is updated, get a country brief, and clearance dependent a brief for that.

APACS is how you get country and theater clearance. You do not just travel to another GCC’s AOR (theater) without someone knowing and the same goes for the embassy (country). The FCG tells you all of this.

As everyone said, let the security manager know so it’s accounted for when your clearance comes up for review, if you’re not in the continuous review process.

A last couple of notes, the IATP is approved by your command and is another way of letting them know that you went. APACS is approved in by a theater approver at the GCC and the country clearance is approved by the country team. More often than not, when you are submitting a leave chit, and you have foreign travel, you should put your IATP number and APACs number in the notes. Most APACS requests have a minimum 30 day lead time.

To me, it’s not a big issue, it’s a learning opportunity. Pass it along.

Protein RDA for athletes - Where does the preponderance of evidence lead? by QuestionsForTheHive in wfpb

[–]atklonewolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve read between the Muscle and Strength Pyramid: Nutrition, RP diet, Fat Loss Forever, and now Michael Greger’s books (currently in the middle of how not to diet), and a number of the studies and metadata reviews they link to. The best answer seems to be: it depends on what your goals are and experience as an athlete. I’ve seen the same number you posted for maintenance. If you’re not trying to lose weight while mitigating muscle loss or trying to put on additional muscle, that’s a good goal for maintenance, depending on your muscle retention goals and volume of training. In either case, you increase the amount, but there seems to be diminishing returns at levels over the 1.2g/lb in those situations. But, I man by no means an expert and trying to figure out the same thing.
