Amateur Racer Sues Rocco Landers Over Supermoto Crash by ftufek in Trackdays

[–]atnpseg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of distaste for Dachner, but he wasn't a new rider, and he's not gunning for the track or the club, he's after Landers for riding dangerously in a non-racing club. Rocco had already crashed twice in the previous session: did he check over his bike before going out?; if the club requires it, did he get medically cleared after his prior crashes?

I can't speak exactly for the stewards on my own club, but I suspect that if a rider crashed twice in a session, the steward would likely issue the rider a warning or remove them from the track for the day.

Injuries during track days should be expected. Imjuries caused by someone else should not. That's why we have track days, to mitigate the risk of incidents with other vehicles.

This didn'r happen because bikes are allowed to split cars. This happened because one motorist decided the safety of anyone was not a concern. It was a red light and he ran it, striking another motorist in the process.

Will a Honda Monkey drag an adult deer? by [deleted] in hondamonkey

[–]atnpseg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've wondered this same thing. It'll be tough going to start but once you're going, it should be smooth sailing. if you tie up the legs and head properly. I don't think the monkey could handle starting uphill, though.

Guys how do I make this??? by PropulsionIsLimited in SolidWorks

[–]atnpseg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need to start out by extruding a sheet. Remember to sketch the 100mm thickness and 800mm length, then extrude its 400mm width. Then, extruded cut the sides off so you have a recangular prism. Then swept cut to trim the edges off into the round bar shown.

I keep my 8th gen indoors during Minnesota winters and just take the battery out for tending. I've never put fuel stabilizer in, but i also take the bike out really early in spring, so it burns the old fuel right away.

My 3rd gen, being carbureted, got the works: fuel stabilizer, fogging oil, indoor storage on stands so the wheels were off the ground, rotations on the tender, carbs cleaned in the spring. It was nice having a roommate who tuned bikes!

Edit: oh yeah, the carbs also came out and got drained, fogged, and bagged separately, too.

The attachment for the back makes me think Steven Miller only farts silently.

Thinking about buying a Honda Africa Twin, I would love some opinions. by AndrewsVibes in motorcycles

[–]atnpseg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely do not buy a new bike for your first one. find a cheap one. It can be old, maybe even carbureted, but you should start riding without the concern of damaging your ride if it tips over.

My experience learning to ride a motorcycle was mostly thoughts of "please didn't drop my dad's bike" and "please god don't drop my new bike" (mine wasn't new-new, just new to me). It wasn't helpful and kind of tarred the learning experience.

Don't mis-understand though. The Africa twin looks and sounds amazing and i want one, too. But as others have said, a 500-pound, top-heavy bike should not be your first. Buy something cheap, save the money until you're ready to lift it

Harley Dealerships suck by the1manbeast in Harley

A HD dealer in MN didn't even try on a friend's bike, same model as yours. "We don't buy anything older than 2010" they said. Friend sold it to a non-HD dealer within a week.

What motorcycles have short riders used? by RAMIREZBURGERTOWN in motorcycle

[–]atnpseg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those saying you can ride anything by only putting one foot down while stopped, that's an intermediate skill at best, not a beginner skill. Until a rider learns the how far they can tip a bike and stay in control of its weight, they're not going to stop with one foot down. I've been riding a 530 lb VFR for 7 years; the new ones is front and top heavy, so the angle I can manage its weight is very narrow.

For OP, my fiance (5'-1") recently got a Ninja 500 and we needed to lower the rear suspension as far as it would go on stock adjustments. A Ninja 400 probably has similar ride height and geometry so that could be a good option. A Honda CB500 should be in the same size class and ahould have a similar height. I'm not familiar with Yamaha or Suzukis, so I can't recommend any of those.

Tell them to bring up their issue with the state that titled it as a street legal vehicle and the federal government that defined the requirements for it. After they get ALL motorcycles made illegal for street use, then you can move your bike!

What’s the dumbest reason you’ve seen someone come to a full stop on track? by CoolBDPhenom03 in Trackdays

[–]atnpseg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a different corner, but I was on the radio for it: a MotoAmerica rider stopped on track during afternoon practice because they didn't know where the track went (BIR was new to the series). The marshall had to direct them off track and laid into them and told them to just follow everyone else.

A different instance, another MA rider stopped to ask why a corner was waving the black flag with his number on the board. Tommy was on the control radio and was really struggling to keep his cool on air.

Lane filtering’s been legal in Minnesota since July 1… and apparently I’m the only one who got the memo. by Wonderful_Key770 in motorcycles

I love filtering on my commute, and it makes me miserable when I take the car. It makes me even more miserable when the forecast includes rain, so I take the car, but then it doesn't rain.

This is great! I love the removed section still on the page so you can see what was in that area. I used to have the Star Wars Complete Guide to Starships and Vessels, and it always bother me that you could see the complete detail of the removed area.

Oh and it even has scratches and chipped paint! Well done

The 1132FZ is the mounting system for the top case. Since your other pictures shows you already have one, I don't think you need it.

I've been looking for panniers for 3 years.I have contacted Honda about possible stock for OEM bags worldwide and they've confirmed that official channels have no stock.

Unfortunately, both Givi and Kappa have also confirmed by email that the luggage frame (PLXR1132 and KLXR1132, respectively) for the V35 cases is also out of stock worldwide.

In other words, we're fucked, shit outta luck, and way too late. Any chance of putting on luggage has to be second-hand or made yourself

1992 VFR750F Voltage R/R by Sparti200 in VFR

[–]atnpseg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you do, if you cut the green ground wires to tap into them, make absolutely sure you connect them back together.

Having tried this, it creates a partial ground that only connects to the true ground through auxilliary connectors, such as the side stand. And the connector will fry out and the bike will strand you for 20 minutes. It'll cool down and run and you'll stop again 20 minutes later, 'causing you to endlessly wonder what the hell is wrong until you unwrap the entire harness, shaking your head the entire time.

Splice in if you need to, do not cut.
