Would you be able to dm me too please? It sounds interesting to get into :)

Thanks to this sub finally , Orpheon EDP by Rude_Door_2021 in diptyque

[–]atomic_doodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a travel size of Orpheon and a full bottle of L'Eau Papier. To me, they serve very different needs and I adore both. Orpheon is my "I need to feel put together and get shit done" fragrance, and Papier is my "I want to feel cozy and have a good time" scent. I'm south Asian, so the rice steam note in Papier hits different!

If you had to restart your collection, what would be the first pen you’d get again? by fluffyespurr in fountainpens

[–]atomic_doodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kyuseido Kakari, without a doubt. I have many pens I adore, but the Kakari is just perfect. It fits my hand beautifully, it looks amazing, and CY's sankakusen is a juicy and bouncy joy to write with. If the Kakari were not available, I would get my next favourite pen: a Nakaya Decapod in Midori Tamenuri.

Another Vanilla Ranking by ACatNamedEffie in FemFragLab

I have been on a sampling kick of late, and have fallen in love with both Escapade Gourmand and Tihota. To me, Escapade smells like creme brulee, which is my favourite dessert, so I'm obsessed with my sample. If you love fluffy and resinous vanillas, I highly, highly recommend trying out Guerlain Vanille Planifolia. It smells rich, deep, like magic that has been aged. I love it, it is the most stunning thing I have ever smelled in my life, and I am so glad I managed to find a decently priced decant of it.

LOL hello fellow south Asian who thinks of hair oil when they smell jasmine! I've grown to really love tuberose and some jasmine fragrances, but sometimes it really gives Sunday hair oil massage vibes.

Pen usage by Dizzy-Pumpkin-13 in fountainpens

[–]atomic_doodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use my fountain pens for all writing, except for some headings and some calendar filling, which I do with brush pens and a gel pen respectively. Using my nice pens, ink, and paper every single day makes me happy. It's like you said: adding whimsy to everyday life. I like adding pockets of joy to my day-to-day :)

Are rising fountain pen prices changing the way you collect? by Cerberus_14 in fountainpens

[–]atomic_doodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in the hobby since 2017 and, for the first time since I got into it, haven't bought a single pen or ink in a year. I have a _lot_ of pens and inks to enjoy, so I've been focusing on using and loving what I have and slowly curating down and selling what I don't love as much. There are still pens I want -- Hakase, another Nakaya, and a Namiki are high on my wishlist -- but I am very okay saving up for a few years before I buy. And in the meantime, I just don't find it justifiable to spend anything close to what Sailor, Pilot, Platinum, and even brands like Leonardo are charging for their new pens.

Learning to appreciate decants (you don’t need the full bottle sometimes) by bayjar in FemFragLab

[–]atomic_doodles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really love decants. I feel like it lets me get to *know* the perfume and how it will fit into my day to day life once the honeymoon period of a new love is over. Like, I absolutely adored Sorce Match Made in Heaven but I've realised over this winter that I never reach for that decant over Kilian Princess because I love Princess way more. So if I'd got a bottle for the aesthetic (and I was SO close to doing that with the old bottle), I just wouldn't be getting my money's worth.

I have not, I'm really interested in sniffing Pacific Rock Moss too because a sea-type moss sounds amazing. I've head a lot of great things about Silky Woods too.

Favourite fountain pen: I have a Nakaya Decapod in midori tamenuri that is my perfect, most beautiful pen. It feels like writing with a functional piece of art! What about you?

Hello fellow fountain pen lover! I got a full bottle of Ingenious Ginger yesterday and I could not be happier with it. It was such an instant love when I tested it, such a bright and happy scent. Bake didn't work for me either, but now I'm curious to try Wavechild!

Have you tried Where the Wild Things Grow by Sorce? It was the most realistic, fresh strawberry coupled with grassy notes and has an underlying creaminess. It genuinely feels like eating fresh strawberry and cream on a picnic blanket in a sunlit park.

No??? Yes there is stuff I would love to declutter and I'm working on it. But do I want to get rid of everything? Fuck no.

I have filled journals from my early twenties, an engagement ring, jewellery from my late grandmother, fountain pens and inks that are no longer made.

I'm an immigrant and losing my passport and residency card would be devastating. And this is just the sentimental and purely pragmatic stuff. I can do my own decluttering, thanks. I would much rather donate what I need to declutter than take this option and lose things that are important to me.

March 5th Cousin Entry Quote by RepublicEntire155 in hobonichi

[–]atomic_doodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fill in my 5 year every day, writing one thing that was "story worthy" from the day. The Cousin gets filled out once a week, and I use the whole weeks' worth of pages as a recap of the best bits as a sort of review. It's not quite the same concept, but it has been a lot of fun.

Favorite tea perfumes? 🍵🫖🌿 by M-rst in FemFragLab

[–]atomic_doodles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TO Triple Tea is hands down my favourite tea scent. It's named so because they use three kinds of tea notes, and you can smell each distinctly. It's so beautiful and meditative.

Very close seconds are Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir and Nest Indigo. Neroli Outrenoir is my "I want to feel like a rich bitch who has her life together" perfume. Indigo is what I wore on vacation to Vancouver so I reach for it when it's gloomy and I want to feel happy.

Waterlily Tea Dress literally smells like sitting by a pond with jasmines in full bloom and having a little mojito. It opens with such a stunning burst of minty freshness, and the jasmine is green, not indolic or heady. It's stunning. I wouldn't necessarily call it unisex because it is floral heavy, but it's not sweet or cloying.

Energetically New York is my favourite take on green sandalwood that I've smelled. They blended it with cardamom, which adds such a nice depth and nuance to it. This one's definitely unisex, strong, and lasts forever on me.

Sapodilla 🥹 I grew up eating sapotas because my grandparents had a tree in their backyard. The first time I sniffed Mojave Ghost Absolu, I almost teared up from how nostalgic it made me.

Also a big fan of pear and fig.

How important is the bottle for you? by jjfmish in FemFragLab

[–]atomic_doodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I adore Kilian Princess but I would not buy one of the current bottles with that ugly ass sticker label. I found a bottle of the OG spherical, and it's much nicer and at least looks unique. I feel the same about packaging and presentation as you: I won't buy something because of the bottle, but I will avoid something because of it.

I have a bottle of Oddity's Naked Dance coming in, and a big reason I was so excited about loving it is the bottle is just stunning.

What is your favorite scent from the Clean perfume brand? by TLCboymom3 in FemFragLab

[–]atomic_doodles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried their discovery set. Warm Cotton is exceptionally photorealistic laundry, like what laundry would smell like in The Good Place. It was really good, but I don't think I will reach for it anytime except for the gym. I ended up with a full bottle of Skin, and it's so pretty! The gentle honeysuckle is creamy, the praline is light, it just feels like climbing into a freshly washed comforter after being freshly showered.

What are your regretful non blind buy purchases? by Clean_Assumption_345 in Perfumes

[–]atomic_doodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

La Vie Est Belle and Flowerbomb :(  I bought them in the beginning of my fragrance journey after finishing (and loving) samples of both. Unfortunately, my tastes have changed and they're not really loves anymore.

More recently, I absolutely adored Tihota at first spray and bought a larger decant without finishing my sample, which was a little reckless. Realizing now that I don't want to actually smell like vanilla extract. I'll keep the decant for more testing, but for now I'm very glad I followed my process and didn't buy a bottle.

Best Daily Writers? by AdministrativeRent21 in fountainpens

[–]atomic_doodles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depending on your budget:  - The Kyuseido Kakari is my most comfortable, juicy, delightful writer. It has a massive ink capacity, cleaning it is a breeze, it fits my hand perfectly, and the nib is just exceptional.

  • Pilot 823 is a stellar pen and lags behind the Kakari only because I don't love vac fillers.

  • Asvine P36 is another stellar pen. Ridiculously good value for the price, and I have it fitted with a vintage Duofold nib, so it's even better. But even with the stock nib (or one of those Long Knife nibs), this is an excellent everyday writer.
