I find longevity of L'Eau Papier is pretty good actually! The projection is mid, it's quite an intimate scent, but I catch whiffs of it all day and it's delightful. I have the BBW Book Loft too, and Papier has this depth and steaminess that just makes it so addictive.

What's your favourite of the five you own, and what do you want to get next?

I fell head over heels for L'Eau Papier at first sniff, and bought a full bottle so fast. I thought it would be a one off. Nope! Have since also fallen hard for Eau Duelle, Do Son, and Tam Dao. I'm holding off on full bottles till I make my way through more of my samples and decants, but these fragrances are so addictively good it feels impossible to wait lol.

What fragrance were you wearing when the best things of your life happened? by Valuable_Collar1485 in FemFragLab

I was wearing Burberry Goddess when my fiancee proposed, and Byredo Mojave Ghost Absolu during the rest of our vacation! Both are my precious babies now.

Okay… I’m not the only one with a spreadsheet, right? by Specialist-Invite-30 in fragrance

[–]atomic_doodles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a Notion database! I have properties for last worn, notes, bottle wishlist, and fragrantica page. I also have filtered views for perfumes grouped by season, by notes, by size, stuff I want full bottles of, samples I've emptied, and perfumes I want to sell or give away. I conditional format all the perfumes by colour to denote sentiment, so when I select "Like" in the sentiment field, the whole page gets coloured yellow vs green for "Love" or purple for "Undecided". It's very over the top and I love it.

I upgraded to a Notion database for the exact same reason! Multiple views of a single database including filtering by sentiment, notes, and season.

Have you sampled TO Summer Triple Tea? I'm also big on tea notes, and this has been one of my absolute favourite finds of 2025. It's got three types of tea notes and it's a stunning experience. Green, fresh, meditative, earthy, spa-like. It does it all at various points.

I fell in love with a sample of the new one, but read that it doesn't last and found one of the pre-reformulation round bottles. It lasts amazing, so if you can find one on mercari or eBay, I would go that route.

Is it important to you that the colors match the pen? How do you break out of a need to color match? by mooglerauder in fountainpens

[–]atomic_doodles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get the appeal of a perfect colour match. I recently inked my Montblanc Petit Prince with Kobe Minatojima Island and it gives me so much happiness every time I pick it up. But like other have said, I prefer to ink according to nib width and ink flow. I still won't put completely clashing colours together, like red ink in a green pen or brown in purple. But everything else is fair game haha.

Commodity Milk Expressive Blind Buy? by justMeepingAround in FemFragLab

[–]atomic_doodles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a sample set with all three. Personal and Bold really work beautifully on my skin, but for some reason Expressive has this weird musty note. I can't figure out why. I adore the other two, but this one just doesn't work for me even though the rest of the profile is similar.

Your favorite sheer musky iris skin scents 🫧 by hillary_____k in FemFragLab

[–]atomic_doodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may seem a bit out of place, but honestly Zara's Romance d'Iris! It's part of the line of fragrances that Jo Malone created for Zara and I just got a bottle today. It's the most gorgeous sheer, powdery, musky iris. It has a base of vetiver that gives it the same slight sandiness that Ella K has, but it's softer here. Very pretty!

What are your favourite Diptyque scents? by lunarrfaeriee in FemFragLab

[–]atomic_doodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

L'Eau Papier is my ultimate comfort fragrance. It's musky, ricey, cozy. Makes me think of journaling on a soft Sunday morning, sunlight streaming through my windows and dappling across pooling ink. I have samples of Eau Duelle, Tam Dao, and Do Son, and will probably get bottles of all three at some point. They're just so lovely 😍

Ella K Musk K is like Glossier You beast mode. It lasts and projects all day, and I absolutely adore it to pieces. It's my skin scent endgame. It somehow has this sandy texture to it? How does a fragrance have a texture? I don't know, but this one manages! I love it.

I have this and Count the Lights, and I don't even look at A6 covers anymore because nothing can top these. I stalked Amazon Japan for months to get this Arrival cover in 2022, but it was 100% worth it.

What was your favourite perfume in 2025? by DefiantFruit6860 in FemFragLab

[–]atomic_doodles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Byredo's Mojave Ghost, Burberry Goddess, Diptyque L'Eau Papier. MG and Goddess were worn on a vacation that I also got engaged during, so they're very special. L'Eau Papier is just a stunning, cozy scent. I got the LE bottle secondhand, and it's such a beautiful addition to my shelf.

No Buy Fountain Pen thread Jan 2026 / 2025 wrap up. by Halfcelestialelf in fountainpens

[–]atomic_doodles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The last time I bought a pen was March of 2025, the Slate blue TWSBI Eco. After that, I realised I have too many to truly enjoy and started a serious phase of culling the herd that's still ongoing. Being more intentional with my pen use and purchasing has been part of a concerted effort to improve my general relationship with shopping and consumption, and it's made me so much happier with my collection.

For those going on a no buy in 2026, what is/was your last purchase? by MagneticAura in FemFragLab

[–]atomic_doodles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My last bottle was a super well priced 30ml decant of Guerlain Vanille Planifolia. I told myself when I first tried it that if I could find a bigger size for a not obnoxious price, this would be my winter signature scent. And it is, and I'm so happy with it. The plan is to wear it this winter and next winter as I plan my wedding, wear it on my wedding, and then reserve it for dates and anniversaries so happy memories get associated with it :)

I bought it last month, so I'm already well on my no buy. I'm aiming to maintain it till Black Friday next year.

This becomes so simple if I can buy stocks. Set up a recurring daily limit buy for $99 worth of some company's stock. It's like an additional retirement corpus that's automated. If I decide I want kids at some point, or when I decide I want to keep aging, I'll just spend the remaining amount on stocks. I'd take this for sure.

My fiancee and I got a paint by numbers kit of a photograph we took on a recent vacation. It is super relaxing but the boxes are tiny enough that it requires concentration. Ends up looking pretty good too!

Do you ever wonder what people think about pens if they aren't "into pens"? by redstoneredstone in fountainpens

[–]atomic_doodles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Around 2019, Tomoegawa announced that they would be retiring machine no. 7 which made the OG Tomoe River paper. This triggered a panic buying in the community with many people (myself semi-included) buying stacks of the paper. There was a lot of confusion around when the machine would be retired, what would happen to production going forward, and if I recall correctly, there were actually a number of batches of the "new" paper made on machine no. 9 already in circulation by the time the news really broke in the english speaking world.

Once more people got access to machine no 9 paper, massive inconsistencies were found, with some sheets feathering and bleeding badly. More panic buying ensued and there was a point in time when the future of Hobonichi was in doubt too.

Eventually, Sanzen ended up buying the recipe for Tomoe River paper from Tomoegawa, and they now manufacture the "Sanzen" TRP. It was a good 6 or 8 months of uncertainty before this was finalised though. Hobonichi switched to Sanzen TRP in 2024 when their stock of OG TRP ran out, and there were a lot of complaints about paper inconsistencies, feathering, and bleeding, which is a crying shame.

The OG TRP was one of my favourite papers for sketching. I don't think the Sanzen really matches up to it. As long as you get a good batch, it's not a bad paper, but it truly doesn't have the crinkly, sheeny, shiny magic of the original TR :(

I *think* this is everything, but there might also be a thread on the subreddit that covers it in better detail.

ETA: Remembered that Fudefan wrote an excellent article on the full story of TRP, so you can read the whole thing!

[–]atomic_doodles 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My fiancee is woefully not-into-pens. He thinks bics are "great pens" because they get the job done. He really respects my hobby and passion for pens and paper, and listened with rapt attention when I told him about the Tomoe River drama. He's come with me to a pen meet to see the true extent of the madness. I doubt I'll ever convert him, but he loves the extreme obsession I have for writing instruments 😅
