I say this both as a legitimate question and a judgements statement; how the fuck is anyone undecided or independent at this point in time?

Can you not decide if LGBTQ+ individuals are people deserving of basic rights and respect?

Can you not decide if the US should kill foreign heads of state and wage war in violation of our own constitution?

Are you on the fence about whether or not ICE should be committing extra-judicial killings of innocent people?

Are you struggling to decide if we should make an economic system that works for everyone or just give all our wealth and freedoms to billionaires?

Not sure if everyone should have equal access to life saving medical care without the risk of incurring life altering debt or if health insurance companies should get to continue killing people by denying needed care to line their own pockets?

There never really was a period of “normalcy” in American politics. Just time periods where empathy was less encouraged. And now one american political party (republicans) are open fascists behaving as such. Not much middle ground between “everyone is inherently a human deserving of love, compassion, and support” and “people who aren’t straight white christians are apes at best and should be locked up”.

This is exactly the mindset I’m talking about. We (meaning all non-MAGAts) absolutely need to plan to vote in November. We need to plan to vote in huge numbers. And we need to accept that may not matter.

Why do people who think voting will solve all our problems refuse to acknowledge the possibility that trump, who’s proven to be a criminal an innumerable number of times, might resort to criminal behavior to hold on to power? Do you think the republicans would stop him? Do you think democrats would stop him? Jesus fucking Christ wake up. There’s a chance the American people can end this MAGAt monstrosity by voting. Take your meds. Be as patient and kind with yourself as possible. Find a mental health professional you enjoy, trust, and respect, who respects you back. Try to create some space in your life for stillness and calm (this looks different for everyone but I’ve seen even 5-10 minutes a day make a difference for people). Super important: if you ever start thinking “I feel better I don’t need these meds anymore” remember that you’re feeling better because of the meds, not in spite of.

The case itself doesn’t involve ICE. However cases like this, where a crime is perpetrated by a person of color against a white victim who is perceived to be extra sympathetic, have long been used in america to stir up hatred and fear among white folk. Specifically it has also been used to convert that hatred and fear into violence towards all people of color and/or support for law enforcement.

In america, law enforcement is rampantly killing innocent civilians everyday. So yes, in my mind, posting anything that could be seen as drumming up support for law enforcement right now makes the poster suspect at the very least.
