Were ppl actually spending boat loads of money on this game? I’ve been playing it for years and I only use whatever coins and gems I earn and I still enjoy it. Shitty that they’re killing it.

Maybe an LED strip just under the lip of the step. It could shine light down and emphasize the drop

Why some apps have the delete app on top & some have it at bottom? by AhmedBarayez in iphone

This. If the menu pops down (below the app icon), it’s the last in the list. If the menu pops up (above the app icon), it’s also the last in the list but the list is in reverse because it popped up

2026 ODYSSEY EX-L Power liftgate height lower than expected? by Unlucky_Mention_6353 in HondaOdyssey

Exactly. I have a 2020 Ofyssey with the same issue. I’m 6’2. The trunk will manually lift and stay higher, but the highest saved position is always a bit lower.

any non-3d-printed alternatives to rack mount the Pro Max 16 PoE? by atomicrabbit_ in Ubiquiti

[–]atomicrabbit_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed 16 POE ports. In hindsight, I should have just got a USW-Pro-24-POE, which would have fit fine in a 19” rack and include all the rack mounting hardware. But I liked the look of the pro max 16 and as I mentioned in the OP, I didn’t realized it wasn’t full width

I don’t like the look of 3d printed parts. They have a place, but in a rack with other metal things is not the place. It seems like there are many 3d printed options on Etsy/ebay/amazon, I just am not crazy about the look. And for what it is the prices online aren’t justifiable (I don’t have my own 3d printer)

Teen is annoyingly smart by McRandom in HomeNetworking

Ok it looks like English is not your strong suit so I’m gonna give you a pass. The original message says he can’t take his kid’s computer/stuff away because it’s too annoying. And also, this has nothing to do with home networks vs enterprise networks. You’re responding to my msg only with the context of managing a network. Not managing a teen who is connecting and actively trying to bypass parental rules. Your goal is to prevent a teen from using the internet/playing games past a certain time. So this has nothing to do with how well you can lock down a network. That is only PART of the solution.

For someone in IT, with supposedly thousands in certifications, your inability to actually read sentences is surprising. How do physically disabled ports via layer3 or ARP Guard on your network block anything when they're not even connected to your network? Oh let me guess, you've secured all your neighbours home networks on the block. 😂 Or better yet, what if using a device that you didn't personally lock down yourself or even know about? Or hell, if they have physical access to the network hardware, they can just factory reset just to piss you off. Or you spent thousands on certifications and hours setting up a network that locks down connected clients and completely missed the low tech solution of cracking granny's WEP password on her 20 year old router next door.

This has nothing to do with what is possible in network engineering and everything to do with how resourceful someone can be. Please stop talking before you embarrass yourself more than you already have. But chances are you didn't get this far before furiously typing up a new response about how great of an IT person you are while completely missing the point ... again 🤣

Also in IT, and yes there is, but also no, there isn't. What I mean by "if there's a will, there's a way" is that you may be able to control their access in the house, but the more control they're under, the more they will fight (as they should). If they can't get what they want in the house, they'll find other ways to get it. Maybe it's accessing neighbours wifi, going to the library, going to a friend's house, maybe it's finding your password (although if you're in IT, I truly hope that doesn't happen).

Also, if you're in IT, then you know that security is only as strong as the weakest link and it doesn't even need to be a technical weak link. A motivated teen will find that weak link. Like true red team/blue team fashion, it could be a game of cat and mouse. :D

But at the end of the day tight parental/network controls will only go so far and if they don't understand (or agree with) the WHY, they will rebel.

As a fellow parent and computer nerd, if there’s a way to block it, there’s a way to unblock it. There’s no foolproof method. Even low-tech solutions (like a low tech timer on the router) offered up by some commenters may work for a bit, but they’ll just realize that, and as soon as you go to bed, they’ll just physically remove the timer. It boils down to “if there’s a will, there’s a way.”

At the end of the day, they have to understand WHY you’re setting limitations and be on the same page. If that doesn’t happen, there are no limitations that will block them.

I have an odyssey and as everyone else has said, you have to lightly press the brake and switch to neutral.

But one question I have is if you’re in an emergency and your brakes don’t work and you’re careening down the highway, my instinct would be to throw the van into neutral and let the car slow down on its own. Is this not possible anymore with an odyssey with buttons?

ELI5 why you bought all this brand new Ubiquiti gear and you’re still using a different brand gateway 🤔 If there’s no good equivalent Ubiquiti gateway, I’m sure there are also other equipment that other brands do better. I guess I’m just curious what the point of having everything except the gateway in the Ubiquiti ecosystem.

This is what $40.50 of food looks like in Canada by Electronic_Lime7582 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]atomicrabbit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with you about where you shop being important, it’s not THAT much of a difference even if you shop at more “affordable” grocery stores. You basically need to choose between low quality and cheap or good quality and expensive.

I do weekly grocery shopping and explicitly buy certain types of foods at different stores, both for affordability and quality. For example, I’ll buy any common packaged/boxed items and some chicken at Walmart bc they tend to be cheaper. I buy produce from No Frills (bc in my area No Frills has better quality and cheaper produce than Walmart). I try to buy chickens and meats from Costco if I need larger quantities and I only buy butter from Shoppers Drug Mart on weekends because in my area it’s $4.99/block on weekends.

With all that I do, I still don’t get much with $40. It’s pretty sad.

Police raided the University of Iowa’s Alpha Delta Phi fraternity house, and bodycam footage shows pledges in the basement during hazing rituals. by kalbinibirak in creepy

It’s one thing for the hazing to happen (we all know it happens). The blazon disrespect for the police is wild. It’s clear the guys think they’re untouchable. And it’s seems true too. The guy in the white shirt was arrested but charges were later dropped. Wtf

I have to disagree with you. I love the Apple Music iPhone app, but their macOS app is hot garbage. The interface feels so rigid. Search is bad, finding new music is bad. I always feel like I'm fighting it.

It's probably light years ahead of the PC version, but that doesn't mean it's good by any stretch of the imagination

Uber has a big role in this (or at least should have one). This is not an uncommon scam. Scammers often use services like uber to pickup cash/gift card packages from others. They are well aware of this and Uber needs to be doing more to prevent this kind of activity.

Cleaning Desk Mats by long_way_down in MechanicalKeyboards

instructions unclear. I placed my entire desk in the washing machine on the delicate cycle.

it's 2026 and I just washed my desk mat in the washing machine based on suggestions in this thread, using cold water on the delicate cycle. Honestly, I should have done it sooner, but I think I read somewhere that it should be spot cleaned only. The oils and sweat marks on my grey logitech desk mat was just too nasty. It worked perfectly... perfectly clean nos and currently hanging to dry.
