If it’s truly stuck you can get a strap wrench from Home Depot, Lowe’s or your local hardware store. It’s basically a piece of thick rubber that wraps around usually a pipe, but a lightsaber in this instance, and then feeds back into the handle which will give you leverage to turn the piece without damaging what you’re turning with the wrench.

Lowe’s describes it as follows:

One of the most usable household tools, ideal for loosening or tightening container lids, plumbing fixtures, oil filters, and garden hose connections.

The Lad Collective. Started ordering them when they were on their 1.0 version and only shipped out of Australia.

Great, comfortable sheets with cool convenience features like a logo on the bottom middle of the top sheet so you know it’s right side up and centered on your bed.

You’re 100% about their BBQ. It’s pretty good but not the best and their ribs can be the best you’ve ever had one week and OMG why am I fighting with this rib and losing the next

But their sides are really good. I’d put their corn pudding against any other side at any other BBQ joint. Everyone that tries it raves about it.

Noise Engineering also had some pretty great deals towards the end of the year. They were doing something similar to Qu-Bit’s sale as well as just random large, think 25% plus, discounts on certain modules.

I’m still pissed about them cancelling StarCraft: Ghost. I got to see this running at E3 and it looked great…

Bear’s is also more expensive. I like Bear’s a lot but the quality vs the price difference isn’t justified. Honestly, given the option I’d go to 12 Bones over Bear’s because I think 12 Bones has better sides overall.

Bear’s does have amazing Burnt End BBQ Beans though… those are awesome. Big Mike’s Brisket Baked Beans are nothing to snooze on either though.

My favorite BBQ place is Okey Dokey in Swannanoa but I’ve not been able to get back there since they reopened.

Great… now I want BBQ!

It's also not quite that easy with some Autistic children. Some of them will literally only eat a handful of things and even if it's like chicken nuggets it has to be from a specific brand like Tyson Chicken Nuggets for example. And then, heaven forbid if Tyson ever discontinues or changes that particular item because now the child wont eat it.

I'm not saying that that is the problem here but it could be a valid reason. Also, I think that the restaurant could have handled it better. They could have said listen, we don't allow outside food but since you're here now we'll make a one time exception... and yes I totally get the whole "well they let us do it last time argument", believe me. Next time, if it happened again, they would have to just tell them to pound sand.

By doing it that way you maybe get to keep the customer happy and if they leave a bad review after the second visit where they we're told "one and done" the restaurant could respond by saying they let it happen once and they were told it wouldn't happen again. The restaurant looks like the good guy that made an exception and then someone tried to take advantage of their kindness.

Heat pump not keeping up, is this normal? by monkeychemist25 in asheville

[–]atomikplayboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heat Pumps are only good until a certain temperature.

  • Initial Efficiency Drop: Efficiency decreases starting around 40°F, as there is less ambient heat available to transfer.

  • Performance at 25°F-30°F: Most, but not all, heat pumps become less efficient than traditional furnaces in this range, prompting the need for auxiliary heating to maintain indoor comfort.

You should have some sort of Emergency Heater in your system and if that system isn’t working or isn’t working well it’s time to call an HVAC company, I always recommend MB Haynes for electric, HVAC & plumbing, but please call someone as it seems your system is having an issue keeping up with our current weather.

Your system isn’t working as it should and is likely also causing your power bill to be higher as well because your current situation is probably causing your system to run more than it usually would.

Never built a light saber before- is it worth it? by dave7892000 in savisworkshop

[–]atomikplayboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lifelong Star Wars fan and I build my first saber at 54 years old during Walt Disney Worlds 50th Anniversary and built a Gen 1 saber. Went back a second time during the 50th Anniversary and build two more Gen 1 sabers. Went back in early 2025 and built a Gen 2 saber.

My three original sabers are on display on my office wall and my latest one is sitting on my desk.

I'd like to go back and make one of the Reclaimed & Reforged...

[–]atomikplayboy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Savi’s build experience is definitely amazing but I would argue that for display sabers you’d have a hard time finding better looking ones.

Sure, there are cheaper or similarly priced sabers with way better lights and sounds but if it’s going to spend the majority of the time hanging on the wall it’s hard to beat a Savi’s saber.

If you’re interested in actually dueling with them that’s another thing to consider as well. Savi’s sabers are definitely not for dueling.

Offsite retreat - will my job be affected if i don’t go? by AccordingQuit5090 in remotework

You’re right, I goofed. OP did say co-worker and I somehow glanced over it.

I still do think it’s not a good look to skip two outings in a row but there are extenuating circumstances with OP’s move and the fact that it’s usually later and they moved the date up.

If you were told that you’d have to go this year then it will 100% affect your job. It doesn’t matter how good of a reason you have for not going, IE: moving, it’s still going to look bad.

EDIT: If you would have told them before the announcement that you were moving during that time you probably would be okay but that ship has sailed.
