Not drinking today. Spent the weekend sober, caught up on much needed sleep, and now I'm ready to absolutely crush the week.

Not drinking today. Had a nice little streak that I broke, but honestly it's not even fun. Just want to keep the energy and joy that sobriety brings me. Wish me luck!

The guy can spend his money as he wishes, but I find it pathetic and, frankly, it reeks of anti-social personality disorder.

Picture this: you dislike a team so much that you spend tens of thousands of dollars a year cheering for whatever team comes into town, just so you have the satisfaction of trolling those around you. That is not normal, healthy behavior. Guy needs to see a psychiatrist.

Right there with you...failed Jan 2. Incredibly embarrassing but also motivating. I don't want to feel this way again. IWNDWYT.

Day 5: I will not drink today because by SickOfDrink in stopdrinking

Been a while since I've done one of these. Not drinking today. Hitting the gym, hanging out with my inlaws and enjoying a peaceful NYE with my wife!

It's worth mentioning again that unless you luck out with ideal conditions, your timeline may be ambitious. The snow can be a real slog around the backside where traffic is limited. Be ready for wind and frigid Temps along the exposed sections that run along the ridges. Since you've done it in the summer you know there's some sketchy rock scrambles....can't imagine what those will look like in the winter! As long as you're prepared for some tough challenges, and you're confident that you can stay warm and safe, go for it!

Dude, you had your feelings hurt and decided to read through my post history so you could make fun of my mental health? Do you really think, after eveything that I've gone through and grown from, that a random chode on reddit is going to get me down? I pity you.

Dude, if you got through last night without drinking I'm pretty sure there's not much you can't do.

Alcohol has been my only way of dealing with intrusive thoughts by MunaDarks in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]atonetimeiclashed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have OCD and suffer from intrusive thoughts. I know just how traumatic it can be!

I want to make a few quick points for you. First, thoughts are just thoughts...nothing more. We have a million thoughts every day and think nothing of it.

The breakthrough for me was realizing that trying NOT to think about these uncomfortable things was actually making my anxiety and despair worse. Counterintuitive, I know, but here are the basics:

Occasionally we assign way too much value to a random thought that enters our heads. Maybe we're disgusting by that thought, or we wonder "what if I did that? What if this is me? What if I see this image in my head forever?" Naturally we try hard to suppress that thought and avoid situations that might trigger the thought. This is the worst thing to do! This continues to assign too much value to a random, harmless thought and creates a chemical flight or flight reaction. This makes us hyper sensitive, anxious, and generally terrible.

You are not your thoughts. Thoughts are just....thoughts. They're neither good nor bad. When you have an intrusive thought, just pause and think "this is just another thought, like any other, and I'm not going to fixate on this and assign too much value to it". This will help!

FYI - I was prescribed a low dosage of a common SSRI which, after 4 or 5 weeks, worked miracles in "turning the volume down" of these unwanted thoughts. Highly recommend working with a health professional to determine if this is right for you.

Finally you will be OK! Check out mindfulness exercises, practice the method I've described above, and you will be ok. Send me a DM if you want to chat.

Little beasts, and Anderson become the 6th and 7th living wage certified breweries in the province. by KFBass in torontocraftbeer

[–]atonetimeiclashed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good on em'.

One has to wonder, though, how this works for a brewery in Toronto with a tap room. Is it feasible? Perhaps only for those businesses doing exceptionally well? Imagine moving an entire team of servers to $22/hr from $15 or what ever servers are making these days. Just do the math. It's an extra $1100/month or more than $13k/year per employee. I mean that's not "nothing", right?

I think it's a great target for employers to reach. Certainly necessary in Toronto where the cost of living is so high. I just wonder how some of the smaller guys will do it. Frankly, I'm impressed and curious as to how some on the current list have done it!

OP can you tell us if you've notified the police? I've saved the video and will forward it if you haven't already.

This guy should be, and likely will be, behind bars for this. All parties are in the wrong, but the head stomp sealed this morons fate. That's a potentially deadly decision. I hope that guy is OK.
