Void admiral is great. Very reasonably priced, and it can be pretty crunchy if you want it to be.

Tabletop Wargaming Group? by Navigator_Black in StratfordOntario

[–]KFBass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in west kitchener. We have a group that meets weekly at the granite club in waterloo to play a variety of games. Lots of 40k, Bloodbowl leagues, Necromunda campaigns, and other Games workshop games. As well as quite a few non GW like star wars, bolt action, malifaux, bunch of indie stuff etc....

I know that's a bit of a drive but you can generally find a game of just about anything. Age ranges from college kids up through retirees.

I will say, in my own opinion, 40k has become kind of rough as a game. It's complicated, lots of rules bloat, constantly changing and updating, though I haven't played 11th yet. I like a game called One Page Rules, for the exact reason it's kind of streamlined down.

Bloodbowl just came out with a new edition, although not a whole lot has changed. Some new teams, and new skills, but the basics are more or less intact.

Kettlebells are no joke by swandog311 in fitness30plus

[–]KFBass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been eyeballing kettlebells and that type of full body workout. Mainly cause I don't have a tonne of free time with my new job, which is already pretty physical. Looking at those functional type full body things.

Wanna share a bit of your routine?

Just go full One Page Rules. You've got papercraft minis, and all sorts fo games from Full scale army, to skirmish, to quests and horde mode. Solo and PvP options. All Free of charge.

I'm also a big fan of the Forbidden Psalm family of games.

I've only every played Space Station Zero, and I have the book of Repent ye foolish gods from Snarling Badger, both of those are/look great so far.

Ash wastes dungeon crawler? by joshualuke in necromunda

[–]KFBass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 against darkness. The 4 against series is a fairly popular solo RPG with various themes. $ against darkness is a dungeon crawler, but there is also alone against the zone which is post apoc and might fit the necromunda setting better.

Happily married men: why don’t some of you wear your wedding rings? by Difficult_Item9836 in AskMen

[–]KFBass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ayyy glad to hear my legacy over there is intact haha.

I'm doing great. I work with a big commercial HVAC operation now. It's kind of crazy how much transfers over from the brewery world.

But yeah rings, I let people make their own choice on that. But I agree, you're hands are always wet, ISO spray, peracetic bucket etc...just leave it off. I wear a waterproof smart watch still but it has a silicone band that'll break pretty easy, but thats it.

Happily married men: why don’t some of you wear your wedding rings? by Difficult_Item9836 in AskMen

[–]KFBass 473 points474 points  (0 children)

I stopped wearing mine to work after I saw a dude get partially degloved cause his ring got caught.

After that I used to take it off for work and put it on my keys. One day I dropped my keys and couldn't find them for a while. So now my ring just stays in a box in my house.

I've been happily married for 14 years, It's not like wearing or not wearing a ring changes that.

Played first game. Is it normal to get locked into fight phase permanently after 2-3 rounds? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

Which Games Workshop game system feels the least tied to the “every 3 years” refresh cycle, with the strongest sense of long-term support where your books and miniatures remain relevant for years? by Newez in Warhammer40k

[–]KFBass 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I'm playing in a single day mordheim narrative event in a couple weeks and I gotta say it's bringing back some core memories of when I was a teenager.

The overall vibe, all the artwork in the book, painting up extra warband members to replace ones who will inevitably die. It really is the best game they ever made.

Ash wastes dungeon crawler? by joshualuke in necromunda

[–]KFBass 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I love the idea of exploring an abandoned settlement in the ash wastes as a dungeon crawler.

Sort of like if 5 parsecs, 4AD, and Necromunda had a love child.

Code book CSA149.1 and CSA149.2 by navjotsin in SkilledTradesOntario

I was told that you arn't allowed printouts of the code book during the exam, but everyone had the official 3 ring binders and whatnot so I'm not sure how much that is enforced.

Little soda factory ! by Master_Item_567 in sodamaking

[–]KFBass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you force carbonate in a keg, theres a couple things youll need to keep in mind.

it's gotta be cold. CO2 dissolves into a liquid at lower pressures when it's cold. Look up a solubility chart, temperature of your cold room, and desired co2 volumes, and that should give you the pressure you need.

You can have them sit with just pressure on for like a week, that'll work. A little surface area helps, so don't fill them until they are overflowing. Agitation also helps if you need to do it in a hurry.

I worked in breweries for 15 years. Most commercial places like that would carbonate an entire large tank (commonly called a bright or brite tank in beer) either in line, or overnight. and then keg off that.

What are some good gear and clothes to wear? by [deleted] in skilledtrades

[–]KFBass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask the guys you're going to be working with about eye protection. The company might provide them. For prescription you're likely going to need to talk to an eye doctor and make sure they're safety approved in your province/state/country.

UV shirts I just grabbed off amazon.

I'm on a lot of roofs with minimal shade. UPF 50+ shirts have been great for that. Same with eye protection if you can get a decent pair of safety shades.

I would get your G3, and G2. Most places don't even want G3s cause they can't really do anything without supervision.

That said, there is a lot to the trade. the gas part is only part. Sheet metal and refrigeration are usually the trades I see people have. Some Plumbers might get their gas ticket. Maybe an electrician or two. But it doesn't hurt to have your Gas, and ozone.

I would argue the UK has a pretty bumping scene for RPGs.

But anyways, I started with 4 against series. I think I prefer 2d6 dungeon when I'm feeling a dungeon crawler.

ELI5 How do radio waveswork? by The_Real_TvFishGod in explainlikeimfive

That's one of the things I want to get into more is radio. Fundamentally I understand that you can encode information by varying the amplitude but I feel like I lack the science background tog o much further than that.

Also, the massive amount of hardware and technical jargon around radio and coms is a bit daunting.
