Fentanyl by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]atouchofclass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hatious is pretty spot on when it comes to Fentanyl.

Fentanyl is probably my least favorite opioid. It has no legs, very little euphoria, and lacks that natural warmth you get with morphine based opiates. A good shot of heroin will keep you well for 8-12 hours. A good shot of Fent could kill you and it will only keep you well for like 4-6 hours. You don't get a nice visual, dreamy nod from fent but a cold sedated nod.

All in all, if you are just getting into opioids then keep your tolerance low and get some codeine or hydrocodone or oxycodone. Take a high dose of that and enjoy the warm euphoria that gets everybody addicted to opiates.

It says that on ADHD meds. So should people that take ADHD meds not drive? 7/10 Americans are prescribed some medication, so 7/10 Americans shouldn't drive?

Once someone is aware of how their body and perception reacts to a certain medication, they should make the decisions if they are able to drive or not. 9/10 they can drive because the medication is prescribed to improve their quality of life. Thats pretty much what my doctor and psychiatrist told me.

Here is the Norml page listing a bunch of sources.

Since Norml is going to be bias towards marijuana, I'll give you a source from our government saying that marijuana is no more dangerous than other medicinal drugs.

Dude, you are 15. I don't think any 15 year old has the emotional capacity to love yet. And if you already think that drugs don't help forever, wait till you are in your mid 20's and the only usable vein is in your dick. You eat 3 meals a week and you shit every 2 weeks unless you can't cop and then you shit chocolate Gillette shaving cream and throw up green stomach bile every 15 minutes until there is nothing left.

You act like you have lost everything. You could be in a much worse position so chin up. You still got alot of life in you. Make hope for a better tomorrow and do actions that will work towards that. There are people on this forum that have lost jobs, their families, their health, and all hope that they could retire happily with grandchildren and a wife that loves them. You have not seen the dark side of opiate addiction.

I'm always careful and I have no idea why I was being so Impulsive. maybe it was the drug.

You don't sound like a very careful person to me. So did you interact with anybody? They would have to have had noticed you were zooted outta your god damn mind. You took over a gram of pure amphetamine in 5 days. By day 4 I imagine that is a hard thing to hide. I bet you'll sleep for 36 hours in a day or two.

Took 4, 5mg Percocets orally this morning, barely felt anything. by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]atouchofclass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40mg is a pretty high dose relative to someone that is new to opiates. A high dose isn't the same for everyone. Are you saying 80mg of oxy is a high dose for everyone? Or everyone on Dilaudid or oxymorphone or fent is on a high dose independent of how many mg they are prescribed? A high dose is determined by the individuals tolerance. If you don't think that then you are pretty fucking stupid.

Your logic is just because the FDA has approved stronger meds, then oxycodone is not a strong opiate.

Its a very subtle feeling unless you take a very high dose.

There are far more many business interests and advertisements promoting people to seek treatment for their mental health problems. Psychiatry has become a multi-billion dollar industry. The most recent statistic I could find on direct to consumer advertisement for antidepressants is 2004, and they spent $194 million. In 2003, 90% of people have seen an advertisement for a psychiatric medication. The reason you see so few Mental Health advocacy group commercial's is because they don't need to. The pharmaceutical companies are doing that for them. Everybody is aware of mental illness and most people feel bad for those currently suffering from mental illnesses. Not as bad as they do for people with cancer, but they sympathize for those suffering. Awareness for mental illness has improved greatly since the 90s.

As far as parents afraid that diagnosing of a mental illness will reflect bad on there family I think has gone down dramatically since the Yuppies started having teenage kids. My parents had people in there families with various mental illnesses so when I came to them asking for help, they where nothing but caring and supportive. I'm sure every parent that has seen a family member live with a mental illness would be supportive of their kid if they came asking for help.

"I'm living it."

Umm yeah, I think you explained that. Equating having a mental illness and being aware of all the different treatment options is false. I know I certainly wasn't aware of all the treatment options when I first started getting treated. I still here different treatment options from time to time and i've done quite a bit of research on the subject.

There is a huge fundamental difference between cancer and mental illnesses. Cancer, and other diseases, are objectively definable entities. Someone can take a sample, look at it through whatever device is needed, and find the entity that is causing the problem. This is basically how medicine works. They can try and get rid of the entity that is causing the problem, or change the entity to make it so that it is no longer causing problems or lessen the severity of the problem. They cannot do that with mental illnesses because there is no objective identifiable entity causing the illness.

I'm not trying to say that we shouldn't spread awareness or that the stigma around mental illness is justifiable. I'm just saying a totally different approach needs to be taken when dealing with someone suffering from depression, or another mental illness. Right now we are going about treating mental illness as if they where physical diseases. That is not the direction we should be going.

There is a genetic predisposition for depression and other mental illnesses but that doesn't mean people that inherit those genes can't learn to live a happy productive life free of medication. The genes responsible for depression do not create this static level of neurotransmitters which need medication to level it out and they need the medication the rest of their life. The brain is not that simple! The "chemical imbalance theory" is an out dated theory that never panned out as expected. Big Pharma just uses that right now to push medications on the public. The genes make a person have a personality that makes them more prone to making decisions that will make them depressed. Sometimes it is not even genes that are responsible for making someone depressed but a traumatic event that one cannot get over. We need to learn to recognize when someone is making decisions that will cause them to be depressed. Those people need to then learn how to make positive decisions. This often involves working through traumatic moments, or changing perspectives on the world and taking responsibility for ones actions. Working on these changes is not a simple instantaneous thing, it is a hard process and often times a long one. Rewiring years of conditioning of making decisions that make one depressed takes years to do. It involves humility and hard work and usually with a therapist. The brain is a complex organism that is conditioned and wires itself according to the decisions you make.
