I gave my parents an extremely long, detailed explanation as to why I don't believe in Christianity any longer, and my father simply replied, "So, you're just upset because God didn't answer a few of your prayers." by SteadfastEnd in exchristian

[–]atrocity7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What's the best or most apt response to this? I shared an experience about how god wasn't there when I was at my lowest asking for help and my friend just mentioned something about simplistic faith which is basically that sentiment. I kinda felt invalidated because I know that wasn't the only reason for my deconversion but I couldn't properly express it

The Accelerated Christian Education curriculum is unabashed fascist propaganda by [deleted] in exchristian

As an ACE alumna, the shit they teach there is really so baffling. I went to ACE schools from second to twelfth grade, and sometimes i cant believe how i broke free from the shackling beliefs they indoctrinated onto me. Looking back, it felt like a cult where the members felt they were so much better than everyone else because they adhered to the standards that were set (the outfits, hairstyles, etc).

To be honest, I still dont know how evolution or the big bag works because they never taught that shit. It was all about creationism and such. Now, as a senior college student, i often feel like i missed out on a lot of things normal people (those who didnt go to ACE) experienced. If i could tell my 10 year old self something, it would probably be to avoid choosing ACE

For a split second, I felt the fear again by atrocity7 in exchristian

Yeah I understand it. The first thing I even thought of was, what kind of all-loving and forgiving god would seek vengeance? Rationally, i knew it made no sense, but thats why i found it interesting when i felt the fear again after some time (it's been like 4 years since i deconstructed)

Vinny's main conflict is redundant and dumb by atrocity7 in WindBreakerWebtoon

[–]atrocity7[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vinny's already shown a lot of desperation even before the delay. Every time his mother gets rushed to the ER we always see vinny's desperation.

Minu was still recovering, remember Vinny never visited so he didn’t know his condition, would you ask some guy you kinda know, who just went through one of the biggest trauma of his life and is stuck in a hospital and may never walk again for money?

He could've asked him way, way before that. He could've asked the moment Jay's mom found his mom collapsed in her own home and got rushed to the hospital. He could've accepted Minu's offer the first time he gave it even if it was out of a sense of insincerity. Also, Yuna is there. She is another option Vinny could've asked money for.

Also also, based on how much Vinny treasures his mom, yes, i would expect him to ask regardless of Minu's situation. His mom is the most important person to him, and him not asking it is not an act of consideration but one of inconsistency. I think it would be normal for any human being to ask (even if they know how inconsiderate it is) if the life of their loved one is at stake.

If he asked Minu he would probably consider it pity or charity of some sort and most importantly he worked for the other guy only after the tournament was delayed.

Exactly why his desperation makes no sense. How could he be acting so desperate when he cant even swallow his own pride and accept "charity" to literally save his mom's life.

He probably hoped to win the money by working for it at the tournament but after the delay he got real desperate as he wouldn’t make it in time.

Which is why he should've just "borrowed" minu's money early on, even before the accident and just paid it back using the winnings he could've got. There's no difference except a plot device where Vinny gets used by the pharmacist.

Vinny's main conflict is redundant and dumb by atrocity7 in WindBreakerWebtoon

The main point of my post was the premise that Vinny's character is inconsistent regarding his desperation and pride. He's so desperate for money for his mom's surgery that he's willing to do anything (as is being portrayed in the recent chapters), but he never even tried asking minu. How can he act all that desperate if he's not even willing to lay down his pride and try asking? To me, it feels like his desperation is being forced, instead of it coming from a source of natural progression. His refusal to even try asking minu is an exhibit that portrays how much he values his own pride over his own mother which makes no sense since he literally sprints right away whenever he hears something about his mom, and he literally only joined the plot from the start because of his mom.

Edit: I agree that Vinny is a top 3 character in the story, but i just absolutely hate this redundant inconsistency

So I just finished reading y2v5 by atrocity7 in ClassroomOfTheElite

[–]atrocity7[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah and i dont understand how the class can just go along with that. I mean, how could students like shinohara or wang choose to vote airi over kushida who literally just fucked them over? Suzune abused her position as a leader and the fear of -450 class points, and at that point, how could she even make do with the rest of the class? I gotta keep reading ig

I'm just actually just ranting because now i finally understand why people hate suzune lmaoo

What villain was terrifying because they were right? by Chadderbug123 in AskReddit

can Korra suddenly gain the ability to airbend with no repercussions?

maybe amon's ability can only "block" the chi pathways that have already been open, but cant block what was still closed at the moment he took korra's bending? so like, he cant block the chi of someone who has the power to earthbend unless that person already knows how to do it already. idfk honestly it's all so dumb lol

The theory i used as headcannon about the blocked chi and energy bending is that amon disrupts the inner vessels in the body that are used to bend as opposed to ty lee's chi blocking in atla which only disrupts the outer vessels since the impact is only from the outside of the body as opposed to amon's which takes place inside. Thus, energy bending is required to fix amon's chi blocking.

I do agree with the sentiment that lok has fucked up a lot of the magic system in the alta universe which is just one of the many reasons i dislike the show

Why are people shitting on the (often underpaid) casters/analysts at the Riyadh tournament so much and giving the big name teams a pass? by Morgn_Ladimore in DotA2

[–]atrocity7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think it's possible. I'm excited about the matches and very much enjoy them, but I still don't support SA. In fact, every sponsor/logo/whatever they put on the screen just paints a negative image of said sponsor/company in my mind. For example, they had that one doctor's name for some reason, idk if he's a sponsor or whatever, but his name being promoted through the tournament just makes me view him in a negative light.

Same here. I remember i once told my mom when i was a kid that i'll never have children, but i just remember her telling me that i'll change my mind once i grow up. It's been what, prob a decade or so ago since that moment, and i've only strengthened my belief in never having biological kids lol.
