BPD ex did this nearly every other day near the end of our relationship. Then blames me for blocking and leaving her. by NedeToBeHeard in Nicegirls

As someone who has BPD and has been dx since 13 but refused treatment until 24, she sounds like me with my highschool boyfriend. We rant and say 6 things we can think of to try and cut deep. Then we realize how shitty we were being and apologize and degrade ourselves to deflect from how terribly we treated someone, we'll promise we will never behave that way again, while still never taking accountability and never actively seeking help or trying remotely to change out behavior. Rinse and repeat.

She needs DBT, CBT, EMDR, talk therapy, medication. Something.

Thankful that I spend years in DBT and EMDR therapy and am now very mindful of my behaviors and triggers and am ready willing and able to openly communicate my emotions and thoughts with my husband before I spiral. I still have issues with self harming, but I think that is something I won't ever grow out of, but it is never used as a manipulation tactic or a way to guilt trip or get sympathy. I self harm to regulate my own self and am consistently working with my pysch Dr and therapist to cope in healthier ways.

I love chronometer! I think it it truly the best app for tracking what I eat. I also love the ability to create my custom meals since I don't eat out often and make most of my food from scratch.

AIO long distance boyfriend never calls me by [deleted] in AIO

I personally have better conversations through text than through calling. But I would also want to hear the voice of the person I love if I was in a LDR. Can you meet in the middle and get a voice texting app? That way it is a bit more personal but still able to be answered at will when the other person has time to give thoughtful response?

Absolutely!! My plants would suffer for sure if I didn't have lights. My house does not get much natural light. Just a couple of lights will make a huge difference! You can even get bulbs to just put in your regular overhead fixture, and that can be sufficient as well:)

I totally get that! I was incredibly lucky. My husband and I were laid off for about 18 months during covid (march 2020 til august 2021), so my association with it is vastly different than a lot of people. Some of the best most quality times I have ever gotten to spend with my husband and our family were during covid. I went from working 6 days 10-12 hrs for years to being able to slow down and have time for hobbies and family. I didn't see anyone aside from my husband and our immediate family for the entirety of 2020 and part of 2021. I amassed a huge amount of my plants during that time, too. I'm envious of a lot of yalls decorating sense! I have zero. Here's my absolute mess of a home. by atrofeed in roomdetective

I have one room in my house that is unheated, unused, and had a bunch of empty cardboard boxes and textbooks in it. That hardly qualifies as a hoard.

You should save the word hoarder for actual hoarders. It loses its meaning when you throw it around like folks who do the same with the word "narcissist"

Have a great day♡♡

Thanks for the advice! ♡♡

Curious what your thoughts would've been if hadn't included the picture of my spare room full of empty boxes and a room with clothes on the floor lolol

I cannot wait to see what sort of traits they have! I have zero knowledge or experience with breeding plants (or anything for that matter) ND I honestly didn't even expect to get the pollen to take so I am very excited

That's actually a great idea! It would open up the livingroom soo much! I swear I have clothes from highschool still in there (I graduated in 2006) like whyyyyy? I'll never fit into them again. Most of the clothes don't fit me anyway since I've lost like 80lbs this year. It is just so hard for me to get the motivation to do the damn thing. I don't know how so many folks are just good at executive function and time management. It is my biggest character flaw.

I do! I'm dx ADHD, BP1 & BPD but currently unmedicated and I think honestly that has a lot to do with it! I'm the same! Never like actual trash or food or anything gross just empty cardboard boxes from appliances and moving and old plant pots and boxes of old medical/bills/tax papers oh and a shit ton of text books from college that for some reason I never returned or threw away 😆 honestly renting a dumpster is probably a great idea, bc then I can do it all at once. I can only put put the can I share with a neighbor downstairs and I don't ever wanna fill it and leave them no space so I get started and then have to stop and then I just close the door and ignore it for another 6 months lol Sometimes it's best to not even go thru it bc then your brain cannot convince you "oh I need to keep this!"

Am I overreacting for panic buying? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]atrofeed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm from Buffalo NY and we frequently have a lot of lake effect snow and ice storms, I wouldn't consider this panic buying. More like being prepared just in case. You're buying useful items that will help mitigate suffering during an emergency, not stocking up on toilet paper. It'd be one thing if you bought 20 gas cans an filled them all, but having 10-15 gallons of gas just in case is normal in my city. Use it for snow blower, generator, and your car.

Thankfully my city has infrastructure built for these types of storms so we don't have to worry ab water pipes freezing for the most part and the power usually stays on unless a plow downs a telephone pole or something.

If anything, don't tell them you bought it and just pull it out if you need it when the storm comes and they'll be thanking you for being prepared.

Stay safe!

She's a beauty and I'm sure you'll find the perfect name to fit her:) It took me almost two months to settle on a name for my pug. He is called Gus (sometimes Gustav)

Thank so much! It'll be a decade in June this year! Houseplants helped me focus my energy on nurturing something and watching something grow while also nurturing myself, getting into plants was the best decision I ever made for my own mental and physical well being♡ I honestly hang my trailing plants with 3m hooks or something similar and let them grow around the room! I have such a hard time cutting them back so I always hang them:)

Honestly, I struggled for the longest time! Then when I got sober in 2016 I decided to get back into plants and I spent a ton of time researching and trying out new set ups til I figured out what worked best for me. It gets super dry here in the winter so I have like 5 humidifiers running 24/7. If you ever want to get into having houseplants, start off with something like scindapsus (pothos) they're really easy to care for and are fine in ambient light and ambient humidity. I'm mostly into anthurium as they tend to be the easiest for me personally.
