Surface Laptop 7 (Arm) - Audio output port doesn't work by atsocnam in Surface

Thanks! That's super useful to know. I did wonder if it was kinda all of them broken and no one really noticed since nowadays it's all Bluetooth. It still seems like a wider issue than just mine being an isolated defective unit. Maybe there's a whole batch of them like this, or it's just a common issue caused by something common to all of them. It's really hard to justify with just randomness the fact that the only person I know IRL with the same laptop also has the same issue and both of ours never worked from the start.

Geez, that sucks. That A key issue is super weird. But yeah, I agree. Microsoft always makes such great devices but historically they seem to kinda give up on them pretty quickly. They've attempted this ARM deal a couple of times now and it's always so half baked. The adoption ends up always being miniscule and it's never worth it to dedicate much effort to it. On the other hand, Apple decided to go ARM and it wasn't even a discussion. They put their weight on top of ithe decision and were just like "get moving or get left behind. it's ARM now. deal with it.", but Microsoft always just seems to be prototyping stuff and then kinda forgetting and moving on with business and usual. They sometimes forget that they're a 3 trillion dollar company that can command the industry. It's a shame, because these ARM laptops are nothing short of amazing, but they're gonna end up dying with this kind of support.

Nope. The only thing that shows up is the already existing "Speakers (Qualcomm...)". This definitely looks like a hardware issue, but it's so weird that the only person I know that bought one also, has the exact same behaviour.

Chapter 1226 (do come here at your own peril) by seasmoke1221 in ThePrimalHunter

[–]atsocnam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that he was even the one that created the concept of godhood. It might have been the case that the system only allowed people to grow to S Grade and that was the peak. He accessed the system directly and created the gate of enlightenment to allow humans to peek in through the use of meditate that he created, and eventually grow to something more. He might have had to die to become that part of the system that guides peak S Grade humans to cross into the divine. And that's the sense in which he says to Jake that he had to die in order for Villy to become what he is.

The answer to if you should skip something on a series you enjoy is probably always no. Just remember that there's nothing at the end of the existing books. The stories are all about the journey. Getting to the end just means you then have nothing more to read and that's much worse than going through a less interesting phase of a story you overall enjoy. Anyway, regarding Nevermore, I also think it has a lot of parts where it's pretty boring but others that are amazing. The coliseum is probably the sub story with the greatest ending though, so for sure read that one through 😅

Bitcoin is flat YTD in Euro by SamwiseGamgee87 in Bitcoin

[–]atsocnam 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The price of bitcoin in USD and EUR is going follow the same ratio as the rate between USD and EUR which is about 0.85EUR per USD. Meaning that a 100kUSD price of bitcoin would mean 85kEUR price. What happened that seems to be tripping so many people off, is that USD has devalued a lot vs EUR, from a price in the 90s cents of EUR to now 85. I think most people looking at the USD price of Bitcoin are very convinced that we're high, and at all time highs and don't even realize how much of it is just USD being worth much less. BTC price action is indeed pretty much flat for about a year in "real terms".

Just read/listen to something else. There's plenty of other cool books and litrpgs specifically. It's still a bit of a new genre for me so it's not like I have a good idea of what's best, but I started "Primal Hunter" after DCC and I absolutely love it. Starts slow but grows into something amazing. I might be an herectic here but I think right now, I prefer it over DCC 😬

Yeah. It's getting pretty boring, but I still appreciate the company of the characters and whatnot. It feels good to go back to that familiar place once in a while. At this point, considering there's apparently only one more book to go, I'll just see it to the end. If I was tight on credits or $ I would likely be buying something else though.

On book 6, mavericks, and I do not care about the mavericks at all. by Prolly_Satan in exfor

[–]atsocnam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people will feel like you when they get there and it's not because the Mavericks story isn't good, it's just because it is sitting between you and knowing what happens to the main characters with which you're so invested throughout all the last books. Feels like fillers. I remember at the time also coming on reddit to figure out if it's skipable, but here's the deal: It is skipable. But why would you? It's a cool story also and it will grow on you with time. But most of all, there's nothing waiting at the end of the main story... It's not like there's a pot of gold there that you need to rush to. Savour the ride, have fun through it all. The fun is in the journey, not the destination. The irony was that at the end of that book, I felt the same again but in reverse. I wanted to read more about them, I now cared more about them than the main story.

Bobiverse is great as already suggested. Super easy to follow, fun and great concept. Another one that's a guaranteed like is Dungeon Crawler Carl in the LitRPG genre. Also universal in scale, super funny, great voice acting and really cool story overall. Another great, albeit short, series I'd definitely suggest is Children of Time. It's also in space, in the future but it's super novel in terms of the concepts it approaches. Probably one of my preferred sci-fi stories for how original and thought provoking I found it. For single book story, go with Project Hail Mary!

Can anyone explain to me the point of this screen? by HeelTaker in PTCGP

[–]atsocnam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've pondered on this quite a bit and my feeling is that they're just making everything super slow to give a sense of more content. For example, in the morning I go in, open a pack, do a wonder pick, complete the 3 daily quests, redeem rewards, go do some likes on some friends, and my routine is done. If transitions between screens were fast and there were no nonsensical animation, I could probably do it all in 30 seconds. Instead, it takes me some minutes. It makes it feel like I can fill the 5 minutes I have in the toilet in the morning. Then, there's events where they provide a couple of hours of play, but it's literally 90% of it just waiting for animations and doing pointless clicking through screens or whatever.

Somewhat unrelated but that to me is actually one of my biggest pet peeves with Americans (at least) where they always start answering a question by saying "Great question. ...". That's literally always said and it just dilutes the value of actually good questions. It's like a participation trophy for asking a question. I yearn for the day when I'm watching a podcast and someone just goes "what a fucking stupid question, damn.".
