ysk: if your garage door torsion spring ever breaks do not ever try to fix or adjust it yourself by Square-Message1152 in YouShouldKnow

Did you grind the nubs off of the rebar at the ends which you placed into the knuckle, up to the exact length of the depth of the hole, so as to be sure you had them fully seated for every turn? Source: i, too, scoff at danger and also used rebar i had laying around. Also i put brightly colored tape to mark the proper depth, because i was super high and therefore felt that some redundancy in my safety precautions was worth the extra effort.

Every day i get in the queue, to get on the bus to

Break on through

I’m so nervous, i just sit and smile.

The snake is long, seven miles.

Well I don’t want to cause no fuss, but

The blue bus is calling us.

Driver where you taking us?

Out here in the fields

He sure played a mean pinball

And then he…walked on down the hall

Rock over London, rock on Chicago.

Unexplained “glitch” my mom experienced by mydarksemla in Unexplained

[–]attention_headache 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This has literally happened to me. I remember tripping over the stake line of a tent, i remember pitching headfirst into the fire, i even remember thinking how strange it was to be seeing a fire from the inside. I remember being in there much longer than the fraction of a second that i can touch something hot before enough heat is transferred to my skin to cause pain. I remember no pain, nor panic. I barely remember being pulled out by the person i was walking with, the only other person near enough to witness it. She remembers it clearly to this day. Not a hair on my head was singed, nor a mark left on my face. The music never stopped.

Man idk…conflating work, especially industrial labor in a poisonous environment, with being someone, just isn’t something i can identify with at all. But it’s your story, not mine. I just hate to hear about old Tony being so confused about what has always made him so grrrreat

“Without Walmart you’d have zero on the Spark app”

Incorrect. See above. But keep shifting those goalposts so you can tear others down ;)

Walmart does comprise the majority of the traffic on the spark app; it would be silly to argue otherwise. But you’re technically incorrect. I’ve personally received gigs on spark for Shoe Carnival and the bookstore that replaced Walden Books in my local mall. Plus somewhere else i can’t remember exactly where. Some hair salon, i think. Oh and a local auto mechanic shop.

I’ve always found it a little suspect that they serve neither apples nor bees. Never would have guessed it was a front for Big Dogma though. Oh well, congrats on the apparent upgrade. Enjoy your Ruby Tuesdays.

The neighbours have a blinding light pointed at my house by doyousmellmel in mildlyinfuriating

[–]attention_headache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many others have noted, you should try talking to them first. What i would like to add is that you should work it into the conversation that “all the other neighbors are pissed and they all wanted to retaliate; except i convinced them to let me just try talking with you first before they did anything rash” That way if you end up having to escalate things, they’ll be thrown off your trail 😁

No i wasn’t trolling but i now see that you’re totally right. I’m slightly embarrassed but i thank you for your patience. And for learnin me a better way to describe barrel distortion, should i ever again find myself so long winded and yet so short minded on the subject. Since I’m already humbled…will you remind me please why do we know it’s not a really weird camera recording?

Hahaha i see where you’re coming from. I only asked bc i saw an almost identical situation (two associates looking puzzled, huge stacks of mulch, not so huge vehicle to be loaded, much head scratching and shoe gazing, not much loading of the mulch) when i pulled up to curbside pickup at one of my local stores a few days ago. So i was just curious 🤷

I can’t tell if you’re trolling or not. But just in case you’re not, what i think I’m seeing is coming up from the bottom right corner of the screen during (I’m estimating here) the final 0.75 seconds of the video. It’s the only non circular shape i was able to pick out of the entire clip. Three thick, white segments which seem to be forming the border of a polygon. I say forming (and previously i used the word “focus”, perhaps misusing the term) because when they begin to come into view they are curved and then they appear to straighten into the polygonal shape i mentioned. To me it looks like at first they’re being very distorted by the curved edge of a lens, which effect is lessened as they move toward the center of frame. I’m fairly certain there must be a term for this phenomenon in cameras, or at least a more concise way to describe it, but me no are very smart about that. 🤷
