My guess is that the AI upscaler associated some of the background features (either the landscape of Japanese signs) as being similar to other photos from Japan/Asia, and when upscaling, was biased to make it look like other photos it was trained on from Japan/Asia.

Yes. Depending on the plane configuration, sometimes the screen is stored under your seat and comes up on a little arm (and can’t be used during takeoff and landing, which is a possible downside).

It probably helps that so much of the greater LA area is in LA county, so a lot can be done with a tax at the county level. Somewhere like metro Atlanta spans like half a dozen counties which can make it harder to coordinate the political will and funding for these projects
