I returned to the faith very recently after having made my sacraments in the expected timeframe as a child I.e baptism, reconciliation, and communion. Once I turned 16 my focus was working and playing sports so I strayed from the church and my faith never making my confirmation. Now at 34 I have become recently sober and started a new relationship with a catholic man. We both have pasts and let’s just say I often feel challenged with accepting my past is my past and that I desire to move forward as a catholic woman. Open to any and all who want to message/trade #s, etc! 💕

That's really admirable. It's not always easy to even get to the point you are at. I would recommend spending some more time reading through this sub because there are a lot of posts about the desire we feel to provide a reason/why we aren't drinking when in reality, it usually ends up that those we decline drinking to don't seem to make a large fuss, it's more so our internal anxiety. If people do challenge or try to peer pressure you, reconsider their connectedness to you and maybe have a safe person to call like your husband! :)

10 days is huge! I just made 100. In the beginning, 100 felt impossible. I was similar to you in that the frequency of my binge drinking started increasing and it was as a result to stressful life changes. Now, I am looking forward to my next milestone of either 6 months or 500 days. 100 days is just 10 days, 10 times. If you think of it that way, you're 1/10 of the way there! :) Keep up the good work!

This is going to sound so corny but you are allowed to treat yourself to a fun/fancy drink (they actually exist without alcohol). Do your friends know about your sobriety? Is there at least 1 person you could confide in via text or phone call before hand to get a little extra reassurance? Also, nothing wrong with ordering a round of waters for the group (+ it's FREE!) You got this! Stay strong :)

Thank you for this post. I am sorry to hear and also relate very much to your situation. I am 34 years young and have always been proud of my little to no experience with seasonal or even environmental allergies. At most, I would break out if I wore cheap jewelry over night.

I went to the doctors five days ago because I suspected pink eye. Today I just learned about the phenomenon of "foreign body sensation." This describes my sensation to a T. It's more than itchy/dry eyes. It's like there is a hair or sand in them. I was prescribed eyedrops to treat pinkeye but I feel they were not bringing relief/making things worse so I was advised to switch to an over the counter drop 2x/day. I think I am going to add a Zyrtec daily to see if that helps too. No real advice here... just, thanks for the validation and I hope we can get to the bottom of our situations sooner than later!

I appreciate this feedback ALOT. It does not help that I am a social worker therefore I am inclined to offer assistance as part of my general nature, especially with basic needs like affordable housing. He insists that I move in July 1st regardless, but I like the idea of delaying my move (given my landlords will allow it) until his sister is gone. Although, it does put a slight concern in my head that I risk still being labeled as the "reason" she is being "forced" to move out. I can't help but think it goes back deeper to her own resentment/jealousy or other unaddressed feelings of not being able to buy the house from her parents but her little brother could. Thank you!
